I've spent most of my time shooting with my rifle, but I'm now interested in venturing into pistol target shooting. Here's the newbie question: What's the best pistol type (BB, pellet, PCP) to get started with? My range has two 10m lanes.
Hi there and welcome to the forum.
You definitely want to go pellet (many clubs won't allow BBs and pellet firers are far more accurate).
Go .177.
Ideally, go recoilless. So that could be PCP, pump-up (single stroke preferred) or CO2.
PCP would be preferred by many but if you prefer self-contained, the single-stroke pneumatics give a very good account of themselves. Pistols like the Weihrauch HW75 and 40 would be excellent, as would be the Gamo Compact.
It might be worth talking to pistol shooters using the range, seeing what they use and see if you can have a go with them?
Hope this helps.
