Got to the range today, 5 guns to try out !

The .22 95k with a WW kit was the best by a country mile but had more recoil than expected, maybe needs a bit of spring removing. Ridiculously easy to cock non the less

The 35 after having the what I thought was a mod but turned out to be a barrel weight drilled out to 7.5mm, now shoots very well, the only problem being the scope and possibly "cheek weld" as if not completely on it will shoot wildly off mark. Trigger was very rough at first but seemed to bed in, maybe needs a bit of adjustment.

AA510, after full O ring change, valve seat doing and new hammer spring is great up to 25 yards or so & after that can't compete with the two above

2250, wow if guns were rated on where pellets landed then this is stupidly accurate, like 1.5k PCP territory, but the scope is total pants, Christmas cracker gift type quality.

HW 70,nice to shoot but the sights couldn't match where the pellets were hitting, may need to epoxy an extension to the foresight.

Had to renew range membership too, another 50 quid

There is very little wind forecast , 8mph Sat, and even better 4 on Fri, so the gazebos will be fine & it will be good for shooting. Might be worth wasting a tin of pellets trying to hit the bucket on Friday

I think you're right about having more time, back then. I was certainly more eager to get out and about shooting and doing the maintaining bit, years ago. Now with two kids and two jobs, I plain don't have the time or inclination. I may go HFT shooting once a month, foxing/hunting every few months. Whereas years back, I was HFT'ing twice a week religiously and hunting most nights.
My H/FT rifles are used in all weathers and get suitably looked after - but it's a total nause taking them to bits and re-zeroing etc after a soaking. So I try to stick to decent weather when shooting those, unless I get a real urge to go ( which is rare ).
My rimfires and full bore rifles are used in all conditions, year round. But they literally take a tenth of the time to strip and maintain compared to an air rifle - the AR15's come to bits in under a minute, so I'll happily bury those in a sea bed and maintain them with a hosepipe and a drop of Hoppes.
My 'Bash rifles', which only see the light of day three times a year, are therefore in something of a middle-ground. If they get a soaking they'll obviously be stripped down but I also know they'll be left in bits until a week before the next Bash, as they're not 'needed to be at hand'.
So these pair should fill the gap nicely. One is lacking in the blueing stakes - meaning I'm not going to be broken hearted if it forms a few more rust spots and the other is Cerakoted, if that gets marked it'll be touched up with paint.
See you next week, whatever the weather.
They look lovely and very purposeful, Craigy.

As you say, most bullet-firers and shotguns are much less time-hungry in terms of cleaning than our airguns which need to generate the motive force to drive the pellet, so fully agree with where you're coming from there.

Nice that you managed to get to the range, Paul. Shame you had to have that annual hit in one go, but if you manage to get there a fair few times a year, that £50 is a bargain.

What power is the 95 doing now? If it isn't too close to the limit, maybe better to let it settle a while? Of course, if that power is a little too close for comfort, that de-tune will reap double benefits.

What size scope is fitted on the '35? I generally prefer smaller objective scopes anyway. But especially on a '35, with relatively low comb, I most certainly prefer a 32mm scope with mounts as low as possible. Was this the trigger unit with marks on the sear? Would a clean-out, lube and, as you say, quick adjustment, do the trick?

PCP performance comes as no surprise. They are no more accurate than a good springer, especially when the shooter has his springer technique engrained and down to a tee. The PCP's advantage comes mainly in the form of massively reduced hold sensitivity, especially in field conditions and when shooting from different positions.

The 2250s do impress, don't they? Especially for the money and when you take their simplicity into consideration. I didn't think the Centerpoint 4x32 scope fitted to the XL that I had was too bad. But then I do like my 4x32s and, perhaps, quality might be variable? Definitely worth having some glass you get on with better on there, though. But I'd always prefer a smaller one on there to keep those compact lines and bearing in mind the comb height. I'd love to see a modern-day super-crisp little 4x20 on one.

HW70 shooting high and run out of adjustment on the rear?
