Unassisted, aged 21, trusted what my local dealer told me and never looked back.
Had the HW99 for years and have bought all my guns from him ever since.
ASSISTED
UNASSISTED
When you bought your first airgun were you A) "assisted" by an experienced source. e.g. Club or friend or B) "unassisted" e.g. plunged straight in and bought whatever took your fancey?

Oh just one thing if you could post what you bought then it would help. The idea of this poll was to see what people bought first time around and to see if this was the target audience for Chinese rifles.
Oh I bought a B4 underlever pile of dog dirt!
Like I say, my first was the HW99.
But.
A mate of mine bought a B2 as his first gun from a place in york. asked me to come and help him zero it (he had a hawke 4x40 scope) because he couldn't hit a thing.
Guess what? Neither could I! Took the scope off to use the iron sights and still no joy. We couldn't work out what was wrong until I had a good look at the barrel and laid it flat on a table - it was actually bent by a few degrees in the middle!
Piece of S#!£$
First airgun I bought, not the first I'd owned, was a second hand Theoben Sirrocco Grand Prix. I recently bought the exact same rifle back after selling it on about five years ago.

Fabricatum diem, pvnc!
Unassisted,
Got a Webley Eclipse from a dealer and have had 3 rifles off of him since.
I'm back.
Unassised Falcon fn19(mail order) then a air arms s410(swopped with someone)
The impossible I do immediately, miracles take 24 hours..
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE,IT JUST COSTS MORE
unassisted, went into local dealer, saw a hw35 with a t/h stock, had the money, went home pleased as punch, then hid it from mam
HW80 Was the standard huning kit of the time, my dad helped me find a good one.
I swapped a Mexican Fender Telecaster for my HW98 in an aladdins cave sort of place and it hurt. But you live and learn
Anyone got a Tele that they wanna swap for a HW98?
was a .177 relum ace air pistol......piece of poop!
1st decent rifle i had was a 177 webley victor.
next was a 22 hw77 mk1 about 1985 i think.
Had assistance from other half who had just started shooting with a Falcon as his brother had just opened Ford Ranges. Totally spoilt as I had a choice between an Air Arms S200 and a second hand Daystate PH6 - husband would have prefered me to have had the S200 so he could have the PH6, but I got to the PH6 first and never looked back!
Air Wolf, MCT, RWS 500, Daystate Mk3 Bullpup, Huntsman Mk2 Target Rifle, PH6, Anchutz, 7.62 Kongsberg, 7.92 Yugo Mauser and .22 Mauser.
I bought a BSA LIghtning in .22 which was absoulutley rubbish for FT. I then bought a Air Arms S200 in .177 which i was advised to buy.
No longer shooting...
The 1st one that I bought (and not my parents) was a s/h Anchutz 335.
Bought a 2nd (probably 4th) hand Original Model 50 in .22
'see it/buy it syndrome'
'big lead best syndrome'
When it got nicked the insurance money / finding the BBS put me on the right track.
Luckily I never read the magazines or I'd have thought an SMK was just as good as a AA400
