A friend just asked me - if I had to sell all but one rifle and one pistol what would I keep. So difficult.
Heart cut Highest Possible and Diana 60 was today's answer.
Not sure it would be the same next week.

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.
Currently looking for Baikal Makarov pistols with the following prefixes to the serial number: 98, T01, T09, T21, T22
Prefer boxed or cased but will consider loose examples too.
I dare to answer the question after being in the hobby only about 7 years.
1. Pistol: the Haenel 28R - I think this repeater is the most amazing work of machining art. Intricate repeating mechanism in a pistol that still looks much like a firearm, the Luger. Hugo’s genius at work.
2. The Rifle: My 1919 BSA light with 21b aperture sight and contemporary customized stock. Incredibly well made, 100 years old and works like a new rifle. The basic design is still used today but nothing captures its simplistic grace. Compare taploading to sticking your fingers in the breech?

I'll play.
As much as I enjoy the pre-war airguns, if I was allowed only one rifle and one pistol, they would have to fill many requirements - good ergonomics, accurate, reliable, and pride in ownership.
With all that in mind, the rifle would be the FWB 300S, and the pistol, the FWB 65.
