    Memories of Supermick?

    Hi all,

First time post but my dad (Mick Hunt, aka Supermick) used to spend many hours on this forum in the 2000s. I'm wondering if there's any users on the site still from his time on here - he passed away in 2007 so I can only hope there are some people still using the forum.

I'd really love to see any photos or videos that anyone might have?

He often met up with Derek, Baz, Terry, and Pete at fairs and was involved with Lea Valley Airgun Club. Back when people could shoot stright...

Thanks in advance for anything anyone can share!

    Steve

Hi Steve, your dear dad was obviously a much loved member and valued contributor on the BBS. Before my time on here, I'm afraid. But I'm sure many people who have been on here for longer than I and who shared many happy memories will be along.

    All the best.

Well respected and oft remembered. Met and chatted numerous times at LV and other meet-ups... seemed to spend far more time talking that actually shooting
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Yep I remember Mick, there was lots of characters back then and a lot of excellent banter and some online fisty cuffs, I can't believe it was that long ago.

Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in

Spent a lot of time with Mick at various game fairs and shoots. A lovely, considerate bloke (he once bought over some refreshments for me as I worked at a stall and hadn’t had a minute to get away) who was very respected and greatly appreciated.
    Very best, Craig.

Only met him once at 8 think it was Cobham years back. I was there to pick up something from Jon Bud now Shed Tuner(can't remember what). Supermick was pointed out to me. He was shooting a air rifle that was firing catapult size lead/ball bearings at saucepans at least 50 yards away. It was strange being able to put a face to someone that had written so much.

Separately there are a few posts in the ' Gone but not forgotten' threads.

Oh, yes. I was a member at LV at the time and we both had heart problems so often chatted about it.

Yes he was, and a very fair one as well.
Rarely asserted his authority unless he really had to.
Well regarded and sadly missed by us old timers.

We met only once, he was buying a Daystate Harrier SE from me, he invited me round to his caravan at the Midland game fair.
I remember that he had a penchant for Crosman Ratcatchers with long barrels, which he used to effect. Would have liked to have spent more time in his company.

Mick, Baz, TD, Rustam - interesting conversations "back in the day" ....

....and there are still many good discussions on how this hobby has evolved and changed in the last 15 years. Frankly it seems mostly to have moved forward in FAC areas and the line between .22RF and FAC air seems pretty much invisible these days.

still enjoy the content, banter and generally good natured discussions .
I think and therefore...... I refuse to steal someone else's quote to try to sound more erudite or profound than I actually am.
