Definitely need a hip replacement Tone. The current wait on NHS is minimum 10 months. Given what happened during Covid (who knows what might come along next), Junior Doctors strikes, general national ‘unrest’, economic downturn etc. etc… that ten months could easily become longer in my mind.
I don’t want to face another four seasons with this pain and more importantly… decreased quality of everyday life, so….. I’ve decided to go private. I’ve got a meeting with the Doc (same specialist I saw on NHS last Thursday) next Monday 5th June at Cheltenham with an estimated
August date for the operation. That’s only nine or ten weeks away

It does grate having to pay for it having paid NI for over 40 years and ‘jumping the queue’ in front of others who can ill-afford it but I’m only going to get worse over time if I wait and I’ve been in pain for eight months already. My other hip is deteriorating too so I’d best start saving up for that one too now .

That would be handy Mick and if they did both at the same time I could get leg extensions

It’s probably having short legs that’s worn your hips out —- you’ve been taking two paces where everyone else takes one.

You don't want leg extensions, as you pay a fortune for trousers, if you can find any that fit

I was told the wait for my knee would be late January/early February. March at very latest. Ended up as Mid August

If I could have afforded it I would have gone private. My knee replacement wasn't straightforward with a made to measure joint needed (3d printed in titanium)
The quote was north of £40k

Hey Pauly. Although it's going to be expensive, that's great news, my friend. And, this way, you'll be back to your best in no time at all. Hopefully you'll be able to manage the pain well enough to do this July Bash and also attend the September one as a revitalised Little Pauly if those timings / recuperation slot into place.
