You won't regret self-publishing John, although it may be hard work at times. Having published three (science) books with large publishing houses and one self-published airgun book, I can vouch for the many advantages of DIY. Yes, there is a substantial initial financial outlay, but in your case I am sure you will be able to judge the likely customer base accurately and get the appropriate number printed for a quick return of your investment. It will be tempting to go for the less expensive bindings, paper, cover etc., but I think for a specialist books like yours, the type of customers you will be getting are not the sort to mind paying a bit extra for quality. Always print a few more than you think you will need, speaking from experience.

    Good luck with the venture!

    Thank you John.

I'm looking at a hardback A4 size on quality paper. The end result won't be as glossy as my monthly articles but then again, books rarely are. I hope to include a few exclusives in the finished work to keep old hands happy as well as newer collectors.

    Kind regards,

    John
Currently looking for Baikal Makarov pistols with the following prefixes to the serial number: 98, T01, T09, T21, T22
Prefer boxed or cased but will consider loose examples too.

I am sure that is right, and after all people will be wanting to be looking things up in it for decades to come.

I can’t believe John’s encyclopaedia came out as long ago as 2008. My copy has seen a lot of use since then and has held up excellently
    Morally flawed
