    Walther LGV spring

I like this spring..a LOT, if Walther will push LGV spares into the UK I for see this spring being used in many project guns.

    Specs are:

    236mm long, 3.35mm wire, 20.8mm OD, 14.4mm ID, 3.96mm between coils, 33 coils.

If the rifle you are tuning is optimised this spring will deliver 11fpe in .177 with ease with just 34CC of swept volume and the shot cycle is supreme. Its a soft spring due to the 33 coils but packs a nice punch.

Titan should make a copy of this one

I think this thread could be even more useful if people post the spring specifications (and where people can obtain one) that suited a particular gun, and put the year, model and calibre of gun in the thread title.

Spring recommendations for specific guns are not always the best option. Several springs may be recommended for a gun but what is reguired is one that is the best fit inside the piston. If there is too much gap between the piston and spring a severe twang can be the result so beware and always measure the piston inner diameter before ordering a spring.

I credit the members of the BBS with enough intelligence not to recommend a spring as being suitable for a particular rifle if it caused a 'severe twang'.

Re-reading this statement Tony... define 'optimised' here. I think you said it didn't work well in a TX. Just not enough room in that gun to pre-load it properly? What kind of rifle would it be good for? I ordered one of the 16J kits from Germany and I'm going to test the piston in my TX but would like to hang onto the spring if there is a good use-case for it. Maybe an HW95 at 12fpe? At 34CC would a .22 be best?

Which of these look promising for a TX200 sub 12fpe with short stroke?

I currently have the QX4600 - in a gun with Mk1 stroke it's up near 11.7 ft lbs with no top hat and no spacers....just custom guide. So there really is no spacing option. It would be nice to be able to adjust pre-load some more...I can't go up with this one. The piston is lightened as well.

Here are some other Maccari springs that I can easily source here in the U.S. (some may not fit the TX factory guides though and will need custom ones):

    QX4600 spring 32 coils x.120" wire - ID .560 set

    R6 Ultra XLD spring 30 coils x .120" with .530 ID

    E9870 Euro Universal spring 39 coils x .120" wire 480" ID - 13" OAL

    E8700 mini spring .105 wire, 29 coils, ID .555" 10" OAL

Merlin XL spring - Square wire, figure it at .116" average, .509 inch ID., 37 coils and 12.2" plus unset.
