THE ONLY WAY TO SEND AIR RIFLES NOW IS THROUGH YOUR LOCAL R.F.D..
Since rmsd won't take aiguns and p48 wont insure them..why would anybody risk it??
Have sent and recieved rifles using my local rfd costing no more than it use to cost using rmsd ....guns are checked and chronoed and packed correctly and sent next day...

My local rfd want £50 to send a rifle.
The rfd is north Ayrshire shooting ground and rifle club
That is a rip off .

There is no confusion - if you can get the parcel down to the size constraints of RMSD then use that - if you can't then use Parcel Force 48hr.

    Is it really that confusing?

I thought that msd will not except any firearms inc air weapons anymore....so why would I use this service ??
The confusion to me is although p48 will except air weapons there seems to be a problem with how much they will pay out through insurance if they loose a air weapon ??

The pistol was almost certanly stopped by the CAA at an airport X-ray (because RMSD goes by air for speed)

The reason they now ask what it is, is to prevent that from happening because items that the CAA don't allow to fly go by road, so if you don't tell them they don't know and it goes to the airport where it is stopped.

Get the leaflets on the new system, Read those leaflets, and do what they say, there is no problem if you do what they ask!!

Easiest way is to get the leaflet from the post office and read it it is not rocket science like most of this lot think it is.Just follow the instruction and you will be OK.It really is that simple.

I posted a courier who will take all air rifles and pistols pick up at your door
    And will insure your parcel.
A member on this forum is a mechanic who services the vans for this firm.
He adked and got it confirmed by the two owners they will take them after he had told them only rmsd upto 610mm
And pf48 hour were our only options.
The more people who use them maybe other couriers will change there policy.
