    More Webley pistol adventures

I have bought another vgc Webley from the collector who sold me the MK 1.
This is a.22 Senior which I think is prewar as the barrel is not hatched at the rear.
    Serial no S17421.
It has a trigger adjust screw and odd shaped trigger guard neither of which I have seen before.
    As ever any info welcome.

Baz might put a picture up for me when he comes out of his shed.

    This one also shoots well!!

It will be interesting to see the photos. Sounds like an unofficial modification to me. The highest prewar Senior number known to me is S19000, so this one should date from approx 1939 at a guess.

Sounds like you have an interesting source of Webley pistols!

    Yes
There was another average straight grip MK1 with a tatty box and bits.
Talk of an LP 53 too.

It also has a posh foresight which is fitted over the original!
If its not factory work it is very professional.

And adjustable trigger and posh front sight!
You would have to be a pretty good fettler to make and fit these bits.
So I'm going for Petes early tactical model!
    Factory special.

That trigger guard front spur and ramped foresight are reminiscent of modern semi autos to my eye. I wonder if someone wanted their Webley to resemble something more modern?

It seems too together and original for that.
Certainly too much effort just for a modern look.
I will seek young Bazs' opinion tomorrow at the range.
If it is Homebrew he will know.

So it appears that this is the work of a competent gunsmith.
The trigger adjust works well and the guard gives a nice hold.
The foresight is also a big improvement.

Baz thinks that this may have been a scrapper that someone went to town on including a reblue.
Just noticed he cut the guard square at the rear and did a smooth cutout on the right to be kind to trigger finger.
The way it shoots indicates internal work but I have yet to chrono it.

I am pleased with my customised Senior.
And yes it was priced reasonably.
As the vendor doesn't know anything about it I guess that's it.
Would be nice if someone recognised it!
