Is it possible to change the piston latch rod for a longer one on the HW98? Rather than put a plastic piston extension.
And where to get one, any makers/tuners do these?
Thanks all.

I’ve an idea they’re out there for the TX, surely there are more HW about to make it worth doing??

Have you tried NickG he has hw latch rods made
it's more about the fixing in the piston... UNlike TX200s whcih just screw in with an M10 thread, I think the HW rods are pinned into the piston heads, and removal can be messy. But should be do-able.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
I reckon the cost and effort to achieve this will be prohibitive and no better than a head extension.
Try a TBT head extension.
In my opinion, I 'd stick with standard stroke and get the shot cycle better. My 95 was the best springer I've ever owned and standard stroke. The shorter stroke needs more spring energy which does quicken the cycle but I feel is a little harsher than a well fettled standard stroke length

I'd recommend tbt piston extensions, I've used a 8mm one on my 97, the fit is perfect and makes a big difference. Imo not worth the hassle and expense of altering the rod.
I ordered a kit off Nick (Tinbum), so that’s likely to be enough in my .22 ‘98, I ultimately want a .17, so this is research for the future now.
