Don’t know the dimensions but I checked Chambers (gunspares.co.uk) and they do a HW30 standard spring (7.5J, i.e. the German standard) for £10.33.
Eric

Doesn't it use the same spring as the HW45 pistol?

Dont they just use cut down springs in the 7,5joule versions?
I bought a 7,5joule HW95 from versandhaus schneider some years back, and the spring it came with was just a cut down full power spring.

Apologies for my memory chaps, the HW45 uses the same spring as the HW25 (not 30).

Thank you all for your input and help. I have now received and fitted the Chambers spring which was quoted at 7.5 joules. When it comes in an unmarked bag I suppose you just assume the correct item has been sent. The only thing I did was to measure the spring before fitting. The one I took out was 210mm and Ian said he thought it looked like a standard sport/UK spring. The one I fitted was 215mm but did seem to be a little easier to compress than the other. However when assembling the rifle you could not tell.
Now the rifle is finished and tested I would say that the spring they sent me was correct. It will take a little time to settle down but is now a different rifle to shoot with. With Ian's help and advice plus the correct lubrication it makes a world of difference.
I hope that any of the information above could be of use if someone is wanting to tune the rifle to shorter distances. I have to say the spring was not cut down and although I have not used a chrono on the rifle, must be around the correct poundage now.
Many thanks again,
Warren.
a vernier/caliper on the wire to determine if it was a different wire thickness would be handy info It's actually much better that it is a similar length spring, rather than just chopping the stiffer std spring. Makes for a nicer firing cycle. Probably only lost 1 FP or so anyways...
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
