Yes, similar to the supersport, but you have the Maxi-grip rail of the lightning to deal with too.
It can be a bit problematic to get off and back on without damaging the aluminium keys that fit in the cylinder and the rubber strips.
Clamping to compress the rubber and lubrication is neccessary.

These links have info on Maxi grip rail removal and fitting:

Regarding the removal of the mainspring, and using the notched wooden dowel thingy too remove the retaining pin, then yes.
Removing the piston assembly will require removal of the maxi grip scope rail and some fiddling with the trigger.
I have not personally removed the piston myself off my superstar,so hopefully someone with some more knowledge will be along soon.
    Les..

IIRC (been a long time since I had one) you can just move the trigger sear out of the way of the piston without completely removing by pushing in a much smaller diameter rod / wire /pin, which allows clearance.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Yes, that works lift the sear with needle nose pliers (with the trigger pressed) and insert something like a small screw driver or pin between the rear end of the sear and the outside of the body tube.
