    Fitting swivel studs

    Hi, how do you select the correct size drill bit to drill the pilot holes when fitting swivel studs?

    Measure the screw root diameter:-

    If you don't have a vernier just hold it up to the light & "eye it" you want a bit just a fraction thinner than the screw shank.

    Put masking tape on to mark the hole, it also helps stop the drill bit sliding on the wood.

    I've always used a 4mm drill bit.
