Do the right thing and offer a full refund in return for the scope or a reduction which he is happy with.

You never said in your advert it was in good mechanical condition. You said it's in excellent condition. It isn't.

I dont care if you are comfortable with your position or not. We all think you are being a knob.

Very poor. The fact that you requested a Paypal gift suggests you knew exactly what you were doing.

Looks like your reputation was worth exactly £130 including RMSD. Bellend, a proper Bellend.

Shame on you sir. The only reaction should be to offer a full refund and then try to sell the scope again with a correct description.

    Poor show I must say.

Have been similarly disappointed to find ring marks to a scope sold on here that was described as being "superb condition", leaves a rather nasty taste in the mouth.

That's not Excellent condition! The seller knew he'd get less for the scope or no sale at all if people saw thew damage, because marks like this just show people the person doesn't look after their stuff. Is there any way to add people to a blacklist I've had good experiences so far on this forum I'd hate to accidentally buy from this con artist...

Rule No.1 when buying off Internet and using PayPal

1- Always negotiate a price you are happy with that includes fees and postage, and NEVER pay by "Friends & family" or "Gift" method, even if it's your favourite Granny.

You may be comfortable with your reply. You won't be comfortable with your future on this most excellent forum. You, Thegogg and the AirgunBBS are no longer compatible. You've made your bed kiddo.

I did describe the scope as being in excellent condition, which in hindsight was incorrect in the cosmetic sense. But, the scope is in excellent working condition with no mechanical or optical (lens etc) faults.

There is a scratch on the ocular bell but it has no effect whatsoever on its performance and if cosmetic appearance was the most important factor to the buyer then he should have asked for pictures, which I'd have gladly supplied but he didn't.

I like the buyer have also bought and sold many items on here and other forums and never had any problems and regularly use paypal gift (as a buyer and seller) because neither side incurs any commission costs.

I wanted £140 for the scope and the buyer offered £120 so I agreed to sell it for £130 to include £10 RMSD so paying just over half the price of new (they're £225 new), for a quality scope in excellent working condition but with a cosmetic scratch on it, doesn't seem a bad deal to me.

That's my reply and I'm comfortable with it.
You admit your description of the scope was incorrect but then go on to square away (in your mind at least) why you think you are justified in not offering a refund. Morally what you did was wrong and anyone with an ounce of decency would see that. Trying to justify your actions by saying the buyer never asked for pictures is absolutely abhorrent. Nice to know you are comfortable though

    Kindest regards

So your sales description of the scope being in excellent condition was false, and you now freely admit that the scope was in poor cosmetic condition.

You gave a completely false description of this item in your sales thread --- I suggest you now give a full refund.

Absolutely the scratch should have been mentioned in the description!

And to blame the buyer for not asking for photos is unreal.

+1. An honest description with photos and a £20 reduction would have probably got the sale (perhaps not to the op), but greed won out.

To not accept a buyer-pays-postage refund and then come on here and admit the description given was dishonest is absolutely unreal arrogance.
