Thanks Mark. They certainly sound serious about remaking the Webley Service. I hope they've done their market research. At least it'll answer the question 'what if Webley had done...?'

I wonder which iconic guns they'll recreate next, the BSA Military Pattern? The Tell 3 pistol? The Improved Model 'D'?

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.

Well I'd buy one even without the peep sight.

However it would have to have the original iron sights - nor the hideous additions shown on the original pics.

The Cox Britannia would be my choice, as the principle of working parts behind the breech results in a very compact true carbine. In fact, these Edwardian rifles were 'Bullpups' before the name had entered common usage.

I once handled a modified Britannia that was fitted with a neat little forend, so maybe something along those lines with perhaps a more conventional stock that fits over the working parts?

Mines more like a Bullworker - remember them

I do think the Brittannia is my choice for a makeover too John.

    Britannia is a good choice.

How about a CO2 version of the Sterling sub-machine gun (single shot, obv).

l am not surprised, as l think the feedback that they got for doing a new Webley Service was not good selling at around £900 although it had a crome finish. for me it was a none starter. but the other rifles seemed intresing.

Hi, I see that some are are not listing any model now. Has the whole enterprise come to nothing? I'll be very disappointed if so. I thought they had some good ideas and liked that they were concentrating at the high end of the market.

Having ideas is one thing, making them pay is something else altogether. If the maths don't stack up, then things dont last long. Tis the cold reality of financial day. I think the gun was too niche, and there wasn't enough of a market to justify the R&D costs.

Silly thing is, there is a perfectly good used example for sale on here for £400 (bet it goes quick now), so why pay £900 for a copy?
