Box looks a nice job - just needs a custom fit interior to slot the rifle & optic into now or even some pick 'n' pluck foam if you're not bothered about a more traditional finsh.
You'll know the fetish has gone too far when the next box you're planning is 6' long...

I have done both type of cases, English and French. This is my first one that has a flexible foam under the satin. I cut the form of the gun into the foam so it would lie flatter and be just slightly compressed as I shut the lid. I actually think this gives the best protection to the gun and especially the optic mount. Plus given the size of the case I could use it to transport three pistols, as the foam is very forgiving.

The English sytle case has compartments separated by thin panels. The compartment are made the size of the gun or accessory but are flat sides so things can move.

The French style is form fitted. The outline of the gun is carefully sculpted into the case material and lined with material. There is no movement as it fits the outline perfectly.
