The latest edition of AGW hit the doormat earlier. The new rifle is featured. I only had a very quick flick through. The barrel pivot bolt and cocking linkage look standard Gamo to me? Not saying that as a bad thing, although I appreciate some aren't so keen.

Gotcha, evert.Sorry, I had missed the bit previously about the bolt not pulling the jaws together.
Is that the case? Poor show if that is so.

If you look at the previous Gamo breakbarrels like the older Magnum versions and the more recent Shadow, that is how they are made theres no metal under the screw head on the fork, the screw head just pushes directly on the barrel. And they tend to have some sideways movement in barrel lockup.
IF they have improved this on the new lightnings, GREAT! That will be the breaking point for me on this gun as everything else seems to be quite good.
But no one has taken the bolt out and showed us pictures yet.
Too many airguns!
Thank you, evert.![]()

Sorry, no. Things have been a little hectic. Will read and report back, but I get the feeling that it will be a report full of glowing praise but with little in the way of technical information.

Okay, I thought it might be this area that was of the most interest.I will have a look at the article but, as mentioned previously, I'm not expecting the writer to have gone into much in the way of technical / engineering detail. Now, if they still had Jim writing for them and he were to do a full analysis of it (like he did with the Umarex / Walther LGV all those years ago) or if they gave it to p.j to do so (doubtful on a new gun for review!
), we'd have our answers.
Once we have some of our own members receive their eagerly awaited rifles, we'll hear more, too.

So I wonder if BSA will continue the walnut stock version or if it is just a limited run, hopefully this is a "testing the waters" run and if successful they offer it all the time.
Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in
Yes, you'd have thought that if uptake was healthy they would continue to offer it, Pete.

Got to admit its tempting me, i've always fancied buying a new BSA but have never purchased one. Was excited about the latest Meteor, but upon visiting my rfd decided not to buy.
This gun will certainly gun tempt me again. I think it looks lovely, and a proper UK made springer just sounds fantastic!
Saw one whilst I was at Countryway Guns in Kent last weekend, not for me, for a similar amount of cash I could get a new HW35E
Klaatu Barada Nikto
And therein lies the problem. Take a bit of a gamble on a new gun that may well have a few unresolved issues (like, potentially the breech bolt design) and unproven trigger and overall track record, or go for a known high-quality, precision engineered rifle that has finesse and will withstand a nuclear blast, will last many lifetimes and just keep on delivering efficiently and with guaranteed precision. Arguably the best springer trigger on the planet, superb barrel and will always find a new home easily on the pre-owned market at a good percentage of its new price.
