They do appear to be, spent a long time looking yesterday. I put my email in to be informed when they are back in stock. There is another site called "Tactical Scope" that has exactly the same website format as OW, and it looks like the same prices, I'd never even heard of them until yesterdays searches

Using the TX last weekend, fitted with the Nikko Airmax Gold Crown, really drove it into me once again that Nikko glass really seems to suit me. And when I've looked through the Panamax in the past they have also confirmed that, so I think the next scope I buy will also be the Panamax.

The weather here looks like it'll pick up mid week & if it's the same there it'll be good for a bit of plinking.

Thick frost here again this morning, then we've had wind & rain, with more to come At least the days are drawing out & I'm not driving home in the pitch black, which is fortunate as they are closing the rail crossing at the top of the road I work on. Hundreds of massive trucks, vans & cars have to negotiate a very narrow, winding, pot hole ridden & half inundated country lane for miles, it's going to be bloody carnage.

Still scratching my head about scopes. I think the one off the 97 is going on the 80, and the one off that is going on the Sirocco, leaving one short for the 35.

It has to be a 1 inch tube, ideally 3-9 x 40, it doesn't need to be a target scope so I'm thinking maybe a Nicko maybe a Panamax rather than a mountmaster.

Excellent stuff re the cashing in on the brownie points there, Paul.

That road sounds fun (not!). Really dislike driving in the dark also these days and can't wait for the lighter evenings to come along.

Have fun with the scope swapsies!

I'm sure you're going to love it once you finally get your hands on it, Mark. The last time I looked they still had a few left, too. Absolute bargains. Different & German quality for "tat gun" money. The Panamax will suit nicely, as John says.

I get the feeling the Panamax range will soon become unavailable and we'll all be chasing round for them in a few years time.
Far less around now than a few years ago. A bit like the Nikon series, in particular the Monarch range.

I'd be more than happy if the Airmax Gold Crown were to be made available over here again, John, as I mentioned the other week. Still shown on the NS site, but seemingly unobtanium over here. Great scopes for the money.

Were the originals Japanese made ?

Tactical scope and OW are pretty much the same company. I don't know what the business model is between the two. Maybe a bit like broadband companies when you scratch the surface to see a new company is a subsidiary of an existing big company.

Both companies share the same address when it comes to returning items in Torquay.

The road is going to be terrible, & it starts tomorrow, there's a busy hauliers yard & a bus company as well that are going to be swapping paint At least it's now light when I'm going to & from work, which as well as making the driving easier it's a psychological milestone too. Going to & from work in the' dark is my least favourite thing about living in the UK.

They currently are unavailable, but supposedly they will be back in stock soon. I think I'll buy two if & when they re-appear

I'm guessing that the original Gold Crowns (I have a few from the 80s) may have been Japanese made, John. Not sure about the later ones. Maybe not?

Yes, I also dislike these shorter days. But at least we're heading the right way now.....We finish at 4.00 on a Sunday and I managed to get home yesterday evening before it went properly dark. It's not so much the "me driving in the dark" per se, more the oncoming traffic dazzling you....those LED lights nowadays seem so much brighter and many vehicles seem to have poorly adjusted lights. And dark AND wet really does my head in!

On a much more pleasant note.....I managed to spend a tiny bit of prep time on the 35 today. I had previously hand filed the tip of the latch down. Gave it a try in the cylinder (no latch spring at this point) and, although there is still a bit of vertical movement, it is much reduced. A tiny bit more filing later on Thursday should sort.

Looked at the TP earlier. Although I haven't measured it, the diameter appears to be closer to 3 than 4mm. So I'm going to stick with the parachute seal on this one and use the new seal that Tinners sent me. The leather piston I bought from Mark can go in my older one, which definitely has the larger TP.

Removed the breech seal. It was a hardened, crumbling mess. Guessing that this alone will have accounted for the low power and harsh manners when I tried it pre-stripping. I've got a new one here to go in.

I really hope grinding that cocking lever does the trick. I know I could get a new, later type one, as I fitted to the old knackerbag a few months ago. But if I can get away without the extra spend, that'll be a bonus.

35mm to come off the spring. That will leave me with the threaded section of the end block plus a couple of mm for preload, which I think will be sufficient and give a nice, soft cycle.

Looking forward to completing the works and trying it out......

That explains that then, very odd really, two identical sites but for the banners at the top.
