I forgot you had the 97 too (I sorta remembered you had another HW, but couldn't quite remember which one). So, yes, stick that one in and see what happens.

I only had a few shots with the 35 and you'll have a far better idea of how many times the issue has reared its head. On those occasions where it cocked, it appeared to do so to me smoothly and without hindrance or obstruction, so fingers crossed that it's just the trigger issue. And quickly answered if you try it with the 97's trigger. Hope it works as that will be problem nice and easily diagnosed and a cheap fix. As you're happy with the rifle's shooting manners, personally I wouldn't bother stripping it to investigate piston etc if the trigger does the trick.

Had some time in the gun room, tried cocking the 35 action with the trigger out, the latch rod clearly goes back far enough, & the cocking arm is no where near the end of the slot in the stock judging by how close it gets to the trigger guard bolt hole.

Double checked the 97 on the chrono & yep 15.95 joules, so I whipped the trigger out of that & popped it into the 35, put the stock on & it cocks perfectly with a bit of play left, ie it can push the piston back a tad further than needed to engage the latch.

So it defo is the worn sears & tired springs in the 35 rekord, they will hopefully arrive tomorrow. Then maybe I can get a scope in that canted mount, get it to the range & shoot it !

I've taken a preload washer out of the 97 but not swapped the trigger back yet. The Welsh Willy spring in the 97 looks puny compared to the monster in the 35, which may be why it's so sweet to shoot.

Looks like I still need a decent "period" 1 inch tube scope short enough for a break barrel rifle, for either the 35 or the Sirocco.

"Had some time in the gun room!". Listen to you, you posh bugger!

Paul, so pleased at this best possible outcome for you. It must be a relief that you now know you don't need to look any further. Trigger and safety fixed and job done. Happy for you. I bet you can't wait to have her up and running again, scope fitted and finally get to try it out properly.

Yep, the springs in the smaller bore HWs (and plenty of others) can look quite puny compared to these big boy springs.......wait until you see a 'ickle HW30 one to see how small and cute they be!

No kids means spare rooms, it wasn't a gun room not long ago, until I joined a couple of forums & now......

Just need to fit those bits from Protek (what a godsend that shop is) & then wait for this weather to finally improve ( the ice has gone only to be replaced by gales ) . Or maybe go back down to Doncaster for a sesh.

I'm hoping there'll be an odd HW30 at the next Bash to compare with this little Hungarian I picked up.

Yep, three (occasionally four) still st home, Paul, so absolutely zero chance of a gun room for me in the foreseeable. Deeply envious!

Yep, if the weather doesn't play nicely, HW35 testing would provide the perfect excuse for a visit to Doncaster.

Yep, I'd guess the spring in the Taurus is quite small.

Hope all goes well with the trigger fettle.

You are a rich man indeed Tony.

The bits came today & I'd typoed one of the parts (rushing to do the order whilst her indoors was in the shower,) so I've had to buy it this evening Probably the most worn part too !

So the trigger rebuild will either be done late next week in the evening or at the weekend.

This weekend is going to have to be DIY, well Saturday at least. Plaster & maybe electrics.

I'll pencil next Sunday afternoon as a trip to the range, want to check out my new scope amongst other things. Always something to look forward to with air guns.

That's a shame about the part, Paul. But not the end of the World, I suppose, and getting some of those needed DIY chores ticked off should mean a few brownie points scored, helping towards those planned range visits.

Have you stripped the unit ready for fitting of the new parts, or waiting until you have all the bits ready?

Be nice to get that scope tried out and let the 35 finally stretch its legs.

Next Thursday pencilled in for the visit to my friend's house, as mentioned last Saturday.....a bit of spring shortening and cocking lever grinding and then a few beers. And then that'll be this old 35 ready for rebuild too!

And, blimey, hasn't that flown? It's a week ago since we were at the Doncaster Range for this inaugural little meet-up!

Always have to have brownie points for range time, being an indentured surf & that, or as it's called these days, "husband"

The trigger is half stripped but range time may become more frequent as DIY gets done & weather improves, also want to try the Sirocco out at the range.

Good luck with the spring shortning & 35 rebuild.Hmmmm beers

Only one week indeed, I'm almost thawed out lol.

Well I managed an hour with the Longbow before switching to the pcp
Voltarol and deep heat beforehand ancodeine after but hopefully on the mend
Apparently tendon and rotator cuff injury. Waiting for mri to confirm before I decide on steroid injection
Should be OK for the Bash
I remembered how to shoot though and the longbow hasn't lost her magic

That sounds nasty. To be honest I wouldn't be putting any stress on it at all after just looking it up.

Probably best to stick to PCPs, I can give that Longbow a very good home by the way

Yes, we know our place, don't we?

Thursday should be a nice day for that tinkering and sherberts that follow. I'll hopefully get a little "prep time" in before then, too. Then, if all goes to plan, build it up on Friday? Might even get some plinkies in if the brownie points extend to it!

Following the meet, I'd just started to thaw nicely in Neil's car. And was so glad that it was so nice and warm in the eatery!

Hope that part arrives nice and swiftly so 35 and gas ram playtime can commence.

Ouch! As Paul says, do take it easy, Pete. My tendonitis was diagnosed a few years ago (MRI AND ultrasound) and can be a real bitch when it flares up. Weirdly, it had been really bad on the build-up to last Saturday's meet and I was questioning the wisdom of taking the TX HC with its stumpy lever. I had even thought about taking the Ratty instead, but knew the cold would severely hamper the CO2's usefulness. And I really didn't want to bring the PCP. But, TX it was. And, you know what? It hasn't been as bad for the last few days! How does that work?

I've avoided the steroid injection so far, Pete. Exercising seems to help (sometimes) and even watching how you lay in bed.

Great to hear you and the Longbow still "have it".

The weather here looks like it'll pick up mid week & if it's the same there it'll be good for a bit of plinking.

Thick frost here again this morning, then we've had wind & rain, with more to come At least the days are drawing out & I'm not driving home in the pitch black, which is fortunate as they are closing the rail crossing at the top of the road I work on. Hundreds of massive trucks, vans & cars have to negotiate a very narrow, winding, pot hole ridden & half inundated country lane for miles, it's going to be bloody carnage.

Still scratching my head about scopes. I think the one off the 97 is going on the 80, and the one off that is going on the Sirocco, leaving one short for the 35.

It has to be a 1 inch tube, ideally 3-9 x 40, it doesn't need to be a target scope so I'm thinking maybe a Nicko maybe a Panamax rather than a mountmaster.

I had a similar "what scope" issue with the 35 I bought from Gary at the last Bash. In the end I chose a nice gloss black NS Platinum 3-9x40 which finished it off a treat !
It was between a pair of Tazzie AG's, a 4x32AO and a 2-7x32AO, in the end the "Platty" won on asthetics. General rule (for me) is "Big scope, Big gun" and vice versa !

    To add;
At the time, last summer when Myself, Tony, Terry, Mark and Ronster purchsed a Diana AM03, I tried a good few scopes on that particular air rifle and after a few weeks trial, the Nikko Stirling 3-9x40AO Panamax was my preferred choice !
I'd say, that particular range of rifle scopes represent great value for money !

I've a confession on that one; it's still with Terry! However, a NS Panamax 3-9x40 is here waiting for it.
