    Very interesting thread.

Very interesting indeed, and also very weird, Tone.

From 11 years ago, I describe in this thread the last HW35 I built, and you've used it.

Bobbin shaped 30mm rotating piston with TX latch rod and TX rear bearings front and rear :-

And I can remember banging on in another thread about fitting the action in an E stock :-

I got there in the end

You'd have to really want one to pay that.

The tuning advantages of the Vixen could now be recreated with a decent drop in kit and piston bearings, which shows how far we've come since its introduction.

The early Vixens had a leather sealed piston with a 65mm stroke and an estimated piston weight of over 300gms --- obviously this combination worked well at the time so I can't knock it.

I often wonder if we'd have had all the other 1980s tuning houses if the Vixen had been a flop ?

    All the best Mick

Agree, seller did have a boxed MK1 FWB Sport for similar money! Both too rich for me, but a very clean HW55T at £650 with another vendor was very tempting!

I've just found a copy of the August 1979 edition of Airgun World which contains the launch of the Vixen in it as well as the original Fred Grimwade article on it.
