OK I guess I had better amplify that, as clearly I have rubbed a few people up the wrong way.
What I meant was, I would pass on many collectors guns, as I buy to use, and use frequently, and prefer to leave the pristine examples to those that cherish such things and will only give them limited use. I also respect the 'mint in box, never fired' examples and agree it would be sacrilege to use and possibly damage a very rare item. I tend to look for a very good example but generally wouldn't worry about a box, pellets etc. I also tend to stick to one example of a particular gun and not pursue one of each variant. I certainly never meant to imply that our collectors never fire their guns, honest!
This policy also saves a little money too

After all, who'd want to plaster a nicely preserved Magnum in red paint
