I'd like to add that as far as "silencers" go it's often a valid term IMO on some of the airguns I've seen, or rather just about heard. 
moderator is of course more accurate though for firearms. 
People who kill animals for their own entertainment should be avoided at all costs, both physically and socially, by any means. They will drag you down to their own level, and that is not a place any decent human being would want to be.
