imperial wax is the best around
Evening guys,
I've only gone and done it - purchased a 38-55 High Wall.
Thing is, I've only ever loaded Pistol Calibre before and this is my first Rifle Calibre.
I understand about lubing the outside of the case and watching the case length however....
The manuals are conflicting about lubing the case mouth.
Is it necessary? If so do you use dry lube or normal lube?
I've got a Lyman Lube Pad kit which came with a press. Thinking of switching to a one-shot lube.
Thanks
Andy

You might not need to resize the cases.
If a fired one will fit in the chamber don't bother to full length resize - its not needed.
Just check to see how well your bullet will fit in the mouth of a fired case.
You may just need to size the first 10mm or so to get tension.
above post is better option as i didnt know its a straight walled case.
felt tip neck so you know how far you are sizing to create tension for bullet so you can write it down just in case.

Good advice, I no longer size cases for my Marlin CB using .380" cast bullets. There are two case lengths for 38-55. I use Starline 2.125.
BTW That is a cracking rifle coupled with a superb round.
I wish I had gone 38-55 instead of 45-70.
Thanks for the comments/advice guys but I'm really after advice about lubing the case mouth for expansion - quite a lot of conflicting info out there.
Thanks
Andy
I don't use lube for expanding the case mouth.
I use a lee expander for the .45-70, there is no need to lube the inside neck.
