LOOKING FOR A BSA ULTRA IN .177 and .25
Looks like a standard one with all the alloy bits polished by hand.
Unusual though...
I would be inclined to agree, but only to about 90% extent, as the normal (though still rare) silver version had different zones of black and silver. I was also puzzled by the metal base plate on the grip, which the known silver versions do not have.
However, the 10% uncertainty comes from the fact that a gold coloured version is known with such a base plate (see here: https://www.vintageairgunsgallery.co...9337e243f9.jpg)
A bit of a puzzle.
Yep, forgot that the base of the grip was just plain with a hole on my old one.
Possibly done by the same person or even as factory prototypes?
Either way it's a neat touch.
Hi John,
As per email, I think you will find the apparent gold plate on the base is just a shadow, similar to that on the trigger guard.
I've just checked my photographs of the standard black 240, and, as you are probably already aware, they don't show a metal base plate either.

This one is chrome plated.
I think it belonged to Paul chell who does this for a living, he does professional re bluing and blacking so he’s used to polishing down to the bare bones, he did my dads theoben fenman
looks very nice
