It is worth waiting until you have something useful and helpful to say, and the contributor is to be applauded for having at least 50% of his postings not being in the sales section
Shootingdaft's contribution is genuinely interesting and relevant, which is more than can be said for some
By & large I think sales on here is as good as it can get,
I have no idea how many sales there have been over the years but posts like this are thankfully rare.
The mods seem to keep sales policed quite nicely, thank you gents, and the only things I really don't like are;
1. Posts without photo's.
2. That how to post photo's in sales is not a sticky in sales.
3. Buyers who do not post on the thread, so post 1 is the ad, post 2 is sold by the seller.
Though a very good idea from Gary and a very generous offer I can still see a few problems with it.
If an item was sent to an escrow service and then posted on wouldn't it incure twice the postage costs ?
To be sure the article posted to the escrow service was as described then the parcel would have to be opened, checked for operation and then repackaged --- there have been instances where a different gun to that described has been allegedly been sent (Claud).
Another slight problem is that everyone's perception of condition is different, my idea of mint condition might not be the same as yours, so even if the escrow service opened the package and checked it out the new owner could still not be happy.
The escrow service would also have to cross reference each item checked with the description given in the sales section advert.
It's a minefield.
It's much easier to just ban anyone doing a dodgy sales deal --- in reality there aren't that many problem deals on here.

Must admit sales that go wrong and aired in public do seem very rare on here.
I’ve been here since 2008 and I was always under the impression that the first to say they wanted an item either on the thread or via pm if the buyer wanted to stay anonymous were the rules.
Ok granted it’s not good etiquette to be anonymous when buying via pm and I’ve seen it cause issues.
Same as someone that half says they are interested but needs to know x y and z or includes caveat’s then someone else pops a yes please straight afterwards
Hi AB
If you bear in mind that the sales section rules allow a vendor to advertise elsewhere as well as here then there will naturally be some threads such as this when the item sells elsewhere.
Another scenario is that the purchaser doesn't want everyone to know their business so the deal is done via PM, which I'm also OK with.
There could also be vendors who post sold when in actual fact they've just decided to withdraw the item and don't want PMs asking if they'd reconsider.
If someone wants to sell, I say let them sell as unhindered by rules as possible.
All the best Mick
