I went to a gun shop today. Just to look for some bits for my Webley mk3.

    I bought an gun!

I would like to point out that it wasn’t my fault! It had a sale sticker on it, it was a gun I’d not heard of and I had no adult supervision.

Anyway, I got it home said adult said "That looks like an gun, not an holster for your Webley?"
I congratulated her on her observational skills and promised a pay review within the year.
    And fled!

Down in the lab I cocked the gun for testing. It groaned! That long, drawn out noise that means the next minute or so will be unpleasant. It was.

Huge cocking effort and 8 ft-lb to show for it?

The next couple were the same, so it went on the slab. A huge, thick, dog-legged spring was extracted and thrown at a photo of Amanda Holden that I keep above the bin. I had visions of a sub 6 ft-lb bell ringer in my head, so fitted the very smallest 29 coil TbT spring with some suitable guides. The spring fitted was 3" shorter and 0.5mm thinner wire than the one I removed, so you can imagine my shock when, after a very easy cocking stroke, I got 9 ft-lb. Bugger!
I have no 31 coil springs left, that’s the main reason for my visit to Blighty next week, and the thought of wrestling a 34 coil into the gun really didn’t appeal…..
I compromised with two power washers added and smack on 10 ft-lb and a very nice little shooter.

It will be coming with me to the bash, along with my shortened HW97k. It may not make it home though as it is in the for sale section.

Oh, and by the way… The Diana 50 took over from the Orignal 50, just with more power potential

That all sounds perfectly reasonable apart from abusing the lovely Amanda.
The more I think I know, the more I realise the less I know.

    Yes, poor Amanda.

Mmmm......Original / Diana 50. Lovely guns. Now, I really don't need any more guns. No space or spare dosh either. But every time I shoot a 50 I tell myself I need one. To be fair, I think the same re the 52 also. And a FWB 65/80.

Well done, Gav. This sounds lovely. Think I'd be tempted to leave it at a sweet shooting 10; they were never meant to be powerhouses. Could I blag a quick go on it, please?

I made a few last minute preparations this morning, mainly the HW97. It has been running at full powermfor a couple of years now, so I’ve reigned that in some. I set it at 10.5 as the targets don’t care how hard you hit them.

I then dug out one of the Coenwulfs, a tuned 99 in .20 and a posh frock. We made these three years ago, I kept two and doubt this one has had more than twenty shots through it. I think I’ll bring it just so people people can say “HOW MUCH?!” When they ask how much it is

So the top and bottom from this pic are coming with me

Yeah obviously you welcome to have a shoot with it T I’ve fancied a 50 well since airgun world reviews some time in the 80’s bit like a 45 which was/is every bit as good as they said it was. It’ll definitely stay at 10 or so possibly unscoped if my eyes play ball .

    Oh and boing 😂

It’s a handsome beast. I’ve just been plinking with it again, tap loaders are just better! I popped a little simmons on top and it looks the biz. It just needs a bayonet now

I’ve been after one for ages. This one is from 1933 and is as tight as a drum.
