Hey up Paul, how are you Mate, hope it hasn't been as wet down there as it has up here at our end !
Mmmm Soggy bottom at Quigley Bottom
We’ve been so lucky with the glorious weather at the majority of the Bashes and long may it continue.
We had very flooded camping fields at Quigley Hollow a couple of times over the years but all great fun nonetheless. Mick was always on ‘hand’ to ‘pull us off’ if necessary though
Speaking of Mick….. where are you ? How you doing ? We’re missing you on here![]()

Hi John. I’m doing really well thanks. Over three months now since my hip replacement!! It’s like I was never in pain and the op never ever happened, just a distant memory.
We’ve had rain but nowt like elsewhere in the country thankfully. We get our fair share here mind you with The Wye and The Severn and The Forest of Dean being twixt the two. Fortunately, I’m on fairly high ground here in Coleford so no real chance of flooding (touch wood). Strong winds can cause problems with fallen trees across roads everywhere locally but thankfully that hasn’t happened.

Great to hear from you Paul, sounds like you made the right choice relocating down there. I'm not familiar with the F of D but I have a cousin living not too far away in Minchinhampton which is a glorious part of the Glostershire countryside so I'm pretty sure your location will be very similar !
Its been a real Bugger up here with the recent heavy rain, we're ok but so many aren't and my daughters place was very nearly flooded with excess water from the River Isla coming into the house under the floor but not quite up to the ground floor level. Its receded now but they are very concerned should it repeat the situation which is very worrying for them just now.
Great to know your hip surgery went well and you're making a good recovery, it must have been a major concern for you. In fact I'd go as far as to say you'll probably shoot better for it !but we'll find out about that the next time we meet at the Spring Bash somethime next year Eh ?
Until then, Paul, take good care !
ATB,
John.

Pauly. That is absolutely tremendous news re the recovery. To be fair, everyone I've ever spoken to who has had the operation done have said how well it went and how much it transformed their lives. I suppose you put up with that pain for so long it just becomes the norm, like any chronic and then worsening condition. But then for the op to be so successful and help people so much, this is absolutely brilliant.
Any warnings to heed now or are you allowed to just do anything you want within reason?

No warnings or restrictions really Tone but there is always the small risk of dislocation due to a fall say, or contorting the leg in some way. Hey, I’m not wanting to take up gymnastics or high impact sports so I can pretty much do everything I want in normal life. My leg muscles do ache after walking even a few hundred yards but I’m sure that’s down to being so inactive for over a year whilst in pain. I really need to exercise more.
