She feels totally shxt. She slept in the spare bed most of the night. She's been up earlier this morning, but back sleeping for the last hour or so and still there.

Great to hear it went well, Dave. Is your good lady feeling any better? Must admit, when we both got it in January '22, Mrs L fared lots worse and wasn't in a good way for quite some time whereas my symptoms were much less severe.

I was off yesterday, too. Used a holiday day up for Glaucoma follow up. Now they're telling me I need to have the cataract removed from my left eye. Assessment appointment in two to three weeks and we go from there. Deep joy.

Had a cataract removed from my right eye eight years back, great fun
BUT
Surgeon did a grand job and eye was better for it.
As you might guess though it wasn't "my shooting left eye" being as I am southpaw so the sport wasn't affected.

However, before I agree to have it done I'm going to get a second opinion.......

I'm not convinced that it's a cataract. I feel it is more a combination of floaters that have sort of "clumped together" into one larger mass. If I close ny right eye and move where I'm looking, it's like I can "chase" this mass away and vision clears. I would have guessed that a cataract is permanent and "fixed"? Could be wrong, though.....

The people that do the glaucoma testing come under the NHS umbrella and have always seemed far too keen to operate on this "cataract". Almost like they get extra money for doing more procedures. Even going back a few years, at one visit a doctor would say that it was getting bad and needed doing, only for different doctors on subsequent visits to say that it was hardly noticeable. Surely they don't get better by themselves?

I did badly on the vision tests yesterday but did explain that I'm really not getting on with my glasses (varifocals) and that I'm constantly having to move my eyes to get clear images. They came from Specsavers. I did go back shortly after getting them and explained my dissatisfaction. They adjusted them slightly and they seemed a tiny bit better. Then, my eye doctor who is treating me for the bleed said not to bother worrying about prescriptions etc until my eyes settled after this year's round of eye injections. So then the time window for rejecting the glasses expired!

I am going to book an appointment with my daughter's optician and get another test done and that second opinion. I feel that with the correct prescription and single vision lenses I might fare much better. And I'm sure a good optician will be able to give that valuable second opinion. I'd rather not have the operation done, and most definitely if it doesn't need doing. If it does need doing, so be it, and I'll look forward to improved vision.

I had some varifocals from Specsavers a couple of years ago, I had them split into three, long distance for when I'm looking up the road in the lorry, mid distance so when I'm looking at the speedo on the dash and close up for reading, I couldn't make out the mid range, it was fuzzy, ialso went back and complained and he said they needed adjusting but there was no improvement, they basically fell apart in the end and lenses scratched easily as well, I went to Karen's optician in the end and my new glasses are perfect.
