I've nowt new coming but have some tinkering planned, although not by me I think... I have a nice little Stingray Carbine (Brum) that I'd like to go a bit daft with. Going to see if one of the pro-tuners will do a glide job on it and fettle the trigger as much as is possible. I have a blued slimtech style mod I could put on it so there might be a full reblue for it too, with a blanking plate for the rear sight holes.

I toyed with trying to make it fully standard but finding a rear sight has come up blank (I have the threaded muzzle weight, foresight & tiny muzzle break) so customising is the next option.

It's currently quite lively at over 11ft/lb, so I'm thinking 10ish with properly fettled & set up internals would make for a cracking wee rifle. It's a job for the new year though.

Still trying to find time to have a day at that indoor range in Donny
All okay, thank you, sir, and hope all is good with you.

Those Stingrays are lovely little rifles. When the time comes, it might be worth having a word with NickG about giving it that fettle. Not sure what could be done with the trigger, though. It might just be worth cleaning / lubing / adjusting as carefully as possible and just "dialling into" it? It's never going to be a Rekord or CD..

I'd also love to be able to schedule a visit to Brian's range in. It's been far too long since I last managed to go and it's a great set-up. Time / rotas / family commitments hampering me at the moment, though.

Cheers for that, John. Although many seem reluctant to supply glass (often citing safety / comfort, but my cynical side suggests margins or certain opticians being out of their "safe zone"), this just confirms that glass lenses are, indeed, still do-able.

I've managed to get an appointment for Monday with a known good optometrist, so will see how that visit goes.......

Those conditions looked truly awful, Pete. Was your area badly affected or not so bad?

Feel for those poor folk down in the South and Channel Islands etc.

Not really to be honest. I think being sheltered by the South Downs make a big difference to Eastbourne.

Thankfully all ok here Tone. South Wales copped for a bit. Had a couple of roads locally closed due to fallen trees but that’s quite common here anyway.

Good to hear you're doing better Tony, all OK here ta.

You're right about the trigger on the Stingray amd I've no great expectations for it, certainly not to try and compare it to a Rekord! To be honest though I don't think it's terrible as is, just could probably be a little nicer cleaned up & smoothed out a bit as you say.

I'd considered moving the rifle on to be honest but it's such a handy little thing and the old Birmingham made Webleys have a nice build quality, so it'll stay and possibly one day be joined by a Longbow. If I can ever drop on a nice one when I have a wedge of 'spare' cash handy

Blimey......they're not hanging about......when I got home last night the letter for the assessment appointment had already landed! Appointment for Tuesday 14th. So I'm going to have to see if I can get an appointment with that optician next week. Tuesday's taken care of by car repair bookings, though. And people on holiday and days off will make it awkward to squeeze a bit of time off from work, but they can sod off. Need to get this looked at and my eyes are more important than whether they're undermanned for a few hours!
Just a thought Tony, but if you manage to get an early appointment for the cataract op (which works wonders) you may want to hang on before ordering new specs, as you will certainly need different ones, really totally different, after the op.
