Well I’m not sure, if you remember I bought an L Pattern on my third visit to Kempton which I bought for bell target shooting and I just thought that I may try and have a go at making a box for it. I have some pieces of oak that are 13 “ x48” x 3/8” thick and was thinking of trying to use those but I’m not sure if they would look right as the original boxes are of pine.
As my gun is late twenties early thirties model I suppose It should be ok as I assume the original boxes were for the pre WW1 guns.
My experience of todays kiln dried redwood tells me that I could waste my time using that as it readily splits, especially the Scandinavian white wood which tends to be sold as pine.
It’s just an idea though
