Just bought some Staropramen ( on your advice) on the way home to test (in a scientific controlled environment obviously) . How on earth can a bottle of whiskey last that long, I drink brandy and only the really old stuff sees it to two weeks past opening, you'll have to up your game
My order from Waffen Centre Gotha arrived today, so the old Original Model 50 now has a decent front sight to match the diopter rear, and a synthetic piston seal, so that should be up & running all being well for the bash.

I'm really thinking of bringing the large tent, comfy inflatable mattress, BBQ, gaz stove, reclining chair, and just hiding from the craziness of this civilisation for a few days... and maybe do some shooting![]()
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission

I do hope the Staropramen testing does okay. I love the stuff. But tastes do vary and it's always a little awkward making recommendations.
Re the whisky, I don't tend to drink it to get hammered. Just a couple of sips most evenings after a beer.
P.S....About three months ago another customer decanted some really expensive, aged single malt into a small bottle for me. Talk about "smoky"!The aftertaste after the very first sip was akin to burnt tyres! But then you get used to it and it's actually rather nice......
Great to hear the bits are with you to complete the 50. Should be nice.

Well, that older "rear cocker" 1377's valve is still leaking. It was worth trying the Pellgun Oil fix, but not quite there. Will need to get a seal kit for it.
Whilst in "1377 mode", I pulled one of my others out of the cupboard yesterday and had a short range plink (garden and everywhere is too cluttered for any meaningful rifle use at the moment). Went okay once I'd dialled back into the sight picture and trigger.
