Happy New Year everyone, barely two weeks to go now

OK, I see where you are coming from. I think Paul offered a lift in his volvo, if not there's plenty of room in my car.

I've been so busy with DIY that the Sirocco isn't finished I realised yesterday, the power needs to come down a tad & it needs the end cap putting back on. Plus the scope it did have is now on the Hatty & I'm loathed to remove it now it's zeroed in, plus I'm still a scope down since ditching two Hawkes.

The 35 is in top spot, but still not 100 % on the others, I was thinking of sticking to one calibre, my range bag weighs a ton there's so much lead in it

    Happy new year.

    Getting closer.

I have two rifles but only concentrate using one. As I did last year, my first, if I enjoy it and want to progress then I will look for an upgrade.

Which rifles do you have, Andy?

I have no doubt you will get much pleasure and enjoyment from this get-together and from our hobby in general, so your collection will, most likely, grow.

Having said that, there is so much truth in that old adage, "beware the man with just the one gun".

And a Happy New Year to you, Paul.

I thought I could remember someone saying they'd give me a lift to the restaurant, but couldn't quite remember who it was. Thank you for the reminder, and thank you HellyPaul.

Hope you get the time to tweak the Sirocco. I suppose you could get that scope bought on the day and zeroed in on the nice, windless indoor range?

Can't wait to see your 35.

Good plan with sticking to the one calibre; you could always remove from it anything further you're less likely to need, to save even more weight.

As I think a zoom scope is quite handy at this range (and the bulk of my rifles wear 4x32s), I think I might be bringing my TX, as it hasn't had any recent use and it'll be nice to let it have a play.

I started with a Cometa 300S. In some respects I should have persevered as at the range with it as I was actually doing quite well, however it was procured to fix a rat problem after a neighbour had chickens. I would only get one shot as it made such a noise they scarpered.

Moving on I got a HW100 for the rats and it was and still is fantastic. Very quiet and does an excellent job. Not seeing rats after the neighbour moved so what else to do? Bench rest.

After 10 months it sprang a leak but I wasn't overly bothered as it went back to Hull Cartridge for repair. Now I needed a backup plan and bring forward my plans for the next rifle — HFT 500.

I don't know if it really is an upgrade on the HW100 but I haven't put that much ammo through it yet.

I put the HW100 up for sale but didn't get any takers which I am quite pleased with now.

So I will be bringing my HFT 500.

Funny you should mention it but I did think about buying a Wulf scope while there

The smallest mag scopes I've got are 3-9 x 40, my eyes are not what they were in the distant days of my youth.

The range bag has dozens of tins of .177, .22 & .25 It really needs sorting for the meet or they'll be calling the ambulance out

I'm starting to think that the three groups might need to be arranged according to rifle, so some of us don't get too shown up.

I'm bringing 2 but not sure which 2 yet, I'm thinking the LGV and possible the Fusion or the MK1 TX but I could change my mind.

Myself and the old fella will be bringing 2-4 PCPs as that is all we shoot now.
30 year old Rapid 17, Ripley, BSA R10 and a Reximex Bullpup.
Every one is welcome to have a go with whichever we bring.

Gotcha. I've heard only very good things about both your PCPs.

My eyes are that bad now that, maybe, I ought to go bigger mag. But I do like the compactness of the 32mm scopes and 2-7 seems fine. On previous visits to the range I have managed to shoot 7mm edge to edge groups at 25 yards with basic, non-AO, 4x32s. Clarity is the most important thing. But I think that, even when the image isn't superbly clear, as long as you can see the circular target, your brain centres the cross hairs anyway. Would love better glass. But, to me, that would mean better quality and clarity, not so much those bigger numbers. Many a Quigley Bucket has been toppled using a 4x32!

Be nice to see the LGV, Gary, and I hope you get it a bit more to your liking.
