What on earth were Weihrauch doing chancing it with the square-secton wire? Apart from the Ox, the only other one is the Merlin that Maccari sells in the US. I don't know the theory behind the square wire thing other than it has more volume of metal for a given diameter of wire, but what is the sense in that? Just makes the spring stiffer, but you could do that by using thicker wire, albeit the spring needing to be a little bit longer than with the square.
I think there may have been another one (or two?) square section springs, Al? Does "Air Force" spring (BOING.....sic!!!!) to mind?
