Ok it might be a bit out of kilter but just go at it with some 600 wet & dry to take the lettering off & problem solved. Or maybe not.

That's a nice rifle, lettering askew or not, reblued & refinished its still a very nice example. And it's got a box! If I could change the font colour to green I think I would have.
