Oops....sorry, I'd totally mis-read your query!
So, to date, no. All the Boinger Bash events have been in the middle of the country, this positioning allowing access maybe a little easier to all from all corners of the UK. A few of the Boingerati (and some of the other nice BBS people) did have a get-together at the Doncaster Airgun Range in January, though.
As said previously, we have one occasional visitor from France. A few from Scotland and, most certainly, a good few from the North West too.
If you can possibly make it, it'd be great to meet you. And I guarantee you a warm welcome and a most excellent day / weekend.
And welcome to the forum.![]()

That's great Neil. Thanks again for doing this. Payment sent. Now the first Bash is on the go it makes me feel like Spring is fast approaching.![]()
Let us know how you get on.
I've ordered a seal kit, a reg gauge & some special tools for the HW 100. I'm not buying any internal pats until I see whats in there. The breech seal is leaky, I put a tiny bit of tissue over it & dry fired it. Why I didn't think to do that before seeing as I do it with springers is beyond me (but not dry fire obvs).
Took the .177 reduced cyl HW80 to the range again on Sunday, for some reason the scope that was on it wouldn't zero when I put it back on, so I removed it & used the opens seeing as it has them. What a revelation, it's staying scopelessIt was hitting a small metal target that is the furthest target with no problem, I can't wait to try it against the bucket
.
I bet with you studying those tutorials and with your analytical mind, you'll soon have that '100 performing just as it should be nice and soon, Paul. Keep us posted.
That's a top result with the open sight marksmanship with the '80. Nice one!I can feel The Bucket trembling with fear now!
Puzzling why that scope wouldn't zero again, though. Is it on different mounts or something?
I'm going to have to go the opposite way with this '35.......firing cycle feels lovely. Quick but not harsh. I had about 60 or 70 shots yesterday and it feels really nice. Accuracy seems good, BUT.......I've always loved using open sights and like to keep a fair few of my rifles on opens. Especially the '35, with its low comb, excellent opens and disposition towards barrel droop. But ever since the cataract op I've not been able to use them effectively......no glasses on and the sights are clear but I struggle to see the target. If I wear my glasses (weak distance prescription), the target is clear but I can't see the sights properly.I must get to an optician and see if they can get around this. It's stopped me going to the Bell Target too.
Even with these vision issues, groups were around 5p piece sized. One or two very tiny ones. But I was straining like mad. I later ordered some 13mm dovetail mounts from JSR and will give it a go with a scope atop. I really didn't want to have to scope it up for now, but needs must. And I hope we don't have a droopy one!
As the power is so healthy, I'm going to let it settle in a little more and then re-chrono. If it's still high 11s I might reduce the spring preload a tad more to get it even sweeter. We'll see.

5p sized groups are pretty impressive tbh, I'd be pleased with that with a scope ! The power is really good, that must be down to some real expertise in tolerances for those O rings.
I think the only reason I could use the open sights on the 80 is because the rifle is so long & they are so far away. My eyes aren't what they were either, so I'm having to rely on The Force. I was aware that by nature I was drawn to try focus on the sight and the target, but then I started working on trusting that the rear sight was right & relaxing onto the target & allowing even the foresight to be fuzzy meant I could use the opens & hit the target without hurting my eyes. My eyes often are really bad after a visit to the range & it's something I'm trying to work on by being mindful of them. Scopes probably a tad out of focus or something, maybe just straining.
Reading a thread on the other channel last night on lubes was interesting, there are lubes being used by serious cyclists that aren't hydro-carbon, so won't diesel, "Finish Line Extreme Fluoro" looks interesting & might be the solution to the 35's "issues".
Count me in for the first Bash of the year - words are hard to find to say how much I'm looking forward to beeing there and meeting all the usual Boingerati again.
Thanks Neil for continuing to organise these events, and my weekend fees have been paid into the usual account.
Best regards, Clogger
Just made payment for the spring Bash 😉.
Regards
Les..
On break at work. Will try and do proper reply later.....When I first joined here nearly 13 years ago, there was a lot of talk about all those "wonderlubes" like Krytox etc. I was never tempted.
Many years ago I was told that BSA used the Molyslip Gearbox Additive to lube their springers at the factory. Not sure if that was true or not. Bought some a good few years ago; must try it.

Looks like I won’t be making this one. Osteoarthritis in the left hip has got pretty bad lately so I saw a private consultant today as I can’t bear waiting a year or more on NHS to get it sorted.
It’s confirmed I need a replacement. Got a pre-op assessment next Tuesday and that usually means you will be getting the op within 28 days following that. So, sometime in Mid April I’m guessing. If so, there’s no way I’ll be mobile enough for The Bash dates. Will be sad to miss The Bash but happy to get the hip fixed. That’ll be both hips replaced - glad I’ve only got two legs![]()
