I think the only reason I could use the open sights on the 80 is because the rifle is so long & they are so far away. My eyes aren't what they were either, so I'm having to rely on The Force . I was aware that by nature I was drawn to try focus on the sight and the target, but then I started working on trusting that the rear sight was right & relaxing onto the target & allowing even the foresight to be fuzzy meant I could use the opens & hit the target without hurting my eyes. My eyes often are really bad after a visit to the range & it's something I'm trying to work on by being mindful of them. Scopes probably a tad out of focus or something, maybe just straining.

Reading a thread on the other channel last night on lubes was interesting, there are lubes being used by serious cyclists that aren't hydro-carbon, so won't diesel, "Finish Line Extreme Fluoro" looks interesting & might be the solution to the 35's "issues".
Those group sizes aren't that impressive, Paul, as I was only shooting at about 11 yards! Although I was standing and those sights were blurry. I'd have hoped for better if I could see the foresight clearly and the target reasonably. The mounts should arrive today, so I should be able to try it with the scope very soon.

Yep, the concentration when shooting does seem to screw your eyes up more, especially when you have issues to start with. I hope you get that scope focussed to your liking and put to good use, whether on this rifle or another.

Yep, despite all the statements of various theoretical advantages of certain "wonderlubes" over the years, I reckon it's best to not be a "lubrication pioneer" and to stick with what we know and is proven to work well....moly grease and moly paste. I do agree with Tinners that using moly in paste form does make it easy to apply. And apply just the right amount, as it can be used to sparingly.

Still intrigued with the Molyslip Gearbox Additive, though. I'd always been reluctant to open the tube to just use a tiny amount of it, but if I got another suitable storage vessel for the remainder, I might well give it a go sometime. And it would be nice to know if BSA did indeed use it.

I'm guessing that many of the various fuel and oil additives, like the Molyslip, STP, Slick50 etc., might all have merit. But then the good old moly serves well and it's relatively inexpensive.

Yep, the efficiency of Nick's 'O' ring set-up is excellent, as the rifle makes power so easily. Especially if you take into account the very short stroke afforded by the old style piston with a piston head then screwed onto the end!

    How's things with the '100 and '35?

    Question flying fish?

Where's our Pete, flying fish, got to? He hasn't been on for about a month.

    Hope you're okay, Pete.

I bet you end up making more airgun related purchases before Easter, Paul. We know you now and know you just can't resist the temptation! You could make a special purchase on a certain Friday and make it a REALLY Good one!

It often happens like that when you discover that you already had something suitable in the tool chest anyway. Never mind, I'm sure you'll be able to put the Krytox to good use.

    Awesome!
Was great to see you yesterday Tony, was good to catch up. And very pleased with the new skid lid.

Yes definitely ronster and me will be there for the May bash, really looking forward to it. Thanks again to Neil for organising it!

I'm skint mate, should be easy.

The Krytox went in the Theoben gas ram, and does seem to work & at least the inertia weight thingy isn't stuck at the end of the piston anymore.

My Best Fittings gauge & adapters for the 100 have arrived, but the only seals I've seen were the ones hauled up at low tide up at Flamborough Head this afternoon when we went up for a stroll & a coffee.

I've got an SMK pistol I'd like to sort out, the trigger pull length is insane. I put a longer screw in to reduce the reach but it's sat way too far back so it needs something a bit more cunning, like maybe a blob of weld on a sear. I'm sure the piston seal which needs replacing must be the same as something else, it's got a hole in the centre like Hatsan & Diana seals. I've gone & forgotten the piston dia though, so it'll have to come apart again.

Talking of cheap SMK pistols, I watched Tinbums latest vid & remembered that I had one of those pistols like he got given, it was with one of my brothers 25 years ago, I wonder if he still has it ? I bought it from a shop on Hylton Rd in Sunderland, looks like the shops still there 35 years later too. Where the hell do all those years go ?

Great to hear you're pleased with the helmet, Terry. And wonderful to hear of your experiences of your first rides on the new steed. Modern superbikes are just so fantastically awesome, aren't they? Keep on loving it.......

Looking forward, as always, to see you, The Ronster and all the Boingerpeeps.

Great to hear that the parts from Best Fittings arrived, Paul. I hope the seals are with you shortly also.

I was given one of those S2 pistols a few years ago. The customer that gave it to me had explained that the trigger often wouldn't hold / would go off by itself. I lubed the trigger which, at first, seemed to sort of cure it, but it started playing up again. The looks of the tapered barrel appealed. Nothing else. I gave it away. It may hand been to a Boungerpeep; can't remember now.

Those years most certainly do fly by, sir.......

The 13mm mounts for the old '35 arrived from JSR yesterday morning. Usual, brilliant service. Ordered them on Tuesday evening, arrive Thursday morning. Superb.

I fitted an older Nikko 4x32 Gold Crown to it last night. I think it used to live on The Predator until a few years ago. A basic, simple non-AO one, suiting the classic lines. Hoping to test it on Sunday after work if I get the chance as it'll still be light when I get home. Fingers crossed for no droop and trouble-free zeroing!

    Where IS Pete, flying fish?

    Getting worried now.

Has anyone heard from him in recent weeks?

    Hope you're okay, Pete.

Nice match of scope & rifle, good luck with it zeroing & being droop free.
