I'll have to add a couple of Hatsan barrels to the sales thread as I'd forgotten about them when posting it.
Excellent stuff, Mark. I bet that Hatsan ends up being very nice by the time you've finished your tinkering.

I will, of course, look forward with great interest to the AM03 updates and your preferred tuning route.

The 80 was doing 11.7 with the tbt spring, so I swapped the 2.75mm preload washer out for a .7mm metal washer I found, put it back together & it's making even more power Straight back to bits & looks like a coil is coming off. It had 55mm of preload with the preload washer in.

The 3D printed butt hook I bought off the sales thread arrived today, looks brand new It looks great on the end of the 3/4 finished beech stock that I made for an Airmagnum carbine PCP conversion, I might actually get the ruddy thing finished now I have that.

    Edit,

Took half a coil off the 80's spring as a whole coil seemed a lot, it's now 11.5 with F&N ftt, and less with other pellets. The 100 has now stabilized after more Napier airgun lube on the hammer & the reg being turned down, it's at 10.4 so I'll try turning the reg up a tad.
Lovely. Sounds like you're really getting somewhere with the '80 and '100, Paul. Nicely done.

Great that the chrono's decided to start working and that stock / butt hook combination is sounding nice.

Well, progress chasing the son and I get the classic " I haven't done it yet, but I haven't forgotten about it!" As it'll be for free, I'll need to exercise some patience, but tbh, I'm working my way back through a few of my rifles and I have a bit of tinkering to do without further purchases.

The Hatsan was shooting nicely after the mod's, but I just wanted to add a moderator, possibly a backdraft. I felt it would benefit from re-crowning as well.

I've a CP2 I've started to tinker with and I'm just waiting on a suitable scope, though I may have one in my cupboard and I've succumbed to Paul's ad for the little 4x28.

I've a project hw35 I had running about 8ft/lbs, which is garden plinking territory and I'm just debating whether to increase the ME, but tbh, I've enough to be playing with at 11ft/lbs.

Ah yes, sounding like you have plenty to be going at there, Mark. A little like myself, I'm always half-fancying something else but then lack of spare funds and space see to that. And even once I finish this round of tinkering (HW50 being built today), there is a little queue of other rifles wanting a little tinker here and there.......and if the Meteor I mentioned on another thread materialises, I might end up doing that sooner rather than later as it's seized up (it'll be the buffer that's degraded, no doubt).

That little scope should be good. Exactly my sort of specification. We don't need the exit pupil to be any larger. Hope it's good and that you're happy with it.

HW50 build all went to plan yesterday. Yay! :-

I'd previously removed 30mm from the end of the spring as it was kinked at the end and there seemed to be an awful lot of preload as standard. It was previously doing 10.8 ft.lbs, which is much more than I guessed it might do. Shortening the spring would facilitate easier fitting, reduce power and cocking effort.

I'd asked Mick if he could supply some thrust / preload washers with the new top hat and altered HW synthetic guide. I used three of these, one at each end of the spring and one ahead of the top hat.

New piston seal fitted too. Quite a snug fit.

Result? Lovely, smooth shooting. Even easier cocking. Chrono checked after about 20 shots - a nudge under 9ft.lbs with Hobby and 8.6 with Suoerdome. Very consistent - sub 5fps variation with Hobby and 1.5fps with Suoerdome. I expect the power will rise slightly as the seal runs in.

I'd have loved to keep it on opens but the cheekpiece is too high for me for opens (and my eyes are struggling with opens these days, too). So I'll fit a 4x32 atop. Nice and accurate at garden range with the opens, though.

Job done. Thank you once again, Mick.

Glad you got the HW50 sorted Tony.

I'm still tweaking the HW100, turns out the reg gauge I got from Best Fittings is pants, I bought it to aid setting the rifle up, this version of the HW100 is supposed to be set at 93, but at 80 on the gauge it's already hot. It's not like it's the cheapest gauge out there either.

Does anyone know if there will be a fire at this site or will the evening be in the pub as it's close to the village ?

Mmmmm.....don't know, Paul. But it has been a good few weeks since he was last on. I know he was in lots of pain with his shoulder(s) and was busy with the garden when he was last on.

Hopefully he'll make an appearance soon and put my mind at rest.

That sounds disappointing re the gauge / reg, Paul. But I'm no way knowledgeable enough to comment. I hope you get it set up to your liking.

Yep, the little 50 is lovely, Paul. The Perfekt trigger, although being better than I remember it from years ago and being able to shoot tight groups, is a far cry from the Rekord and takes a fair bit of conscious effort to achieve those tight groups, so I may well fit the Rekord that I'd obtained for it years ago. That'll make it lovelier still. And fitting a scope will help me see those targets clearly. I have a little old 4x32 Bushmaster earmarked for it.

That 50 sounds like it's going to be a really sweet little rifle by the time it's got the rekord trigger & the Bushmaster on it

Had ten minutes on the 100 last night, power is now set at 11.5, there is an 8 FPS fluctuation on shots but that's nothing compared to what it was & I don't do competitions so it'll do. Gauge is showing 75 at that power level it should be @93

That only leaves 2 rifles needing sorting & they are both PCP so meh

when setting up a PCP reg, you want to set it's pressure such that when maxing out on hammer it's around 1-2 FP above your intended power output. Then wind the hammer back to suit. The principle being you need to retain some hi pressure air in the plenum to help close the valve stem. Apologies if you already know this.

Also whilst I'm sure it's annoying, I wouldn't worry about your gauge not being "accurate" - so long as it's repeatable, it's more about measuring differences when you make changes, than the absolute value.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
