I've not seen Gav posting on here for a while.
Are you going to be making an appearance my friend?

Well, I got the cylinder back from the youngest son yesterday evening, minus the tamperproof grubscrew that was choking the tp. So, decided on a 3mm tp change. Cut some 4mm o/d tube and after an acetone wash of both parts, I bonded it in place. I left a little of the brass tube proud of the breech face and using a needle file dressed it flush to the original face. So, all back together and post dieseling it's doing a healthy 11.8ft/lbs with 15.4gn pellets. Cycle has improved and I've added the backdraft moderator, which has quietened things down a bit. I've fitted a hefty 2.5-10x32 scope and am just experimenting with pellets (just about to continue with some FAP's). Overall, very happy with the outcome. I'll bring it to the bash for perusal.,

    Easily done, Melv.

We were in a field in a similar-ish location a couple of years ago, methinks. I haven't studied the exact location yet but it'll be easy enough to find.

    Can't wait!

I haven't seen him on for a while either, Gary. Can't remember if he's struggling with access issues also?

I'll get a message to him and find out.

Really hope he will be joining us.

    Get yer skates on, Tom!

    I know you'll be fine.

I thought I was pretty much sorted. I'll definitely bring the little '50. I was going to bring the recently fettled '35, but that will now depend on whether I can get some more tinkering time in - I've only got two days off now prior to The Bash and other things going off too. If I don't manage to get the '35 re-fettled in time, I'll get another one picked out and checked over.

Great to hear you've got it back, Mark, and that's sounding very good.

How would you say the cycle compares? As standard I think it's quick but not harsh.

Which pellets were you using, as I see there's a typo there with the pellet weight?

Obviously making power very easily now. If the 11.8 turned out to be the highest with any pellet, you're just in. Would you be tempted to leave it with the ram at that power level or go spring?

In fact, this decides what I ought to bring if I can't get the '35 done....if I bring my AM03 we can try them back to back.

P.S....Re that grub screw, do you think it would be feasible / hold merit to file / ream away at it through the TP and reduce the amount that it's choking the port by to improve flow, increase power and improve characteristics if I decided to have a play?

Tone, I'll be bringing it along, so you're welcome to try. Regarding the tp, I did briefly try to machine some of the grub screw out through the tp, but was conscious with a small diameter cutter (4mm) that if it broke in there, the rifle was fubar'd.

Cheers, Mark. I'll look forward to having a go and see how differently it shoots.
Point taken on "attacking" the grub screw from the TP side. I just wondered if it could be achieved if done carefully by hand?
I see you've updated your previous post now with the pellet weight. With the light weight piston, I wonder if power does rise with lighter pellets?
Re accuracy, when I first got mine I just used the Hobby down the garden and at The Bash. And they were very accurate. When I did the accuracy testing at the Doncaster Indoor Range, it was accurate with everything I tried, but the Jumbo RS edged the others.

    P.S.....Get that cheque banked!
