I still think it's too short / weak, but if you have a guide that fits a TX spring, try it 
Personaly I think 3.2 mm wire soft wind will be your sweet spot. A man of your experience must have the ubiquitous "big box of random springs" on hand to play with ? Or I can bring mine and we can try some at the bash
