Completely agree. SMK the latest importer (again) has the current range on their website and marketing material. Listing the rather high RRP. They say go through your dealer and all the dealers I have approached says SMK doesn’t have any???

Looks like I will have to pick another up on my travels. Pity as I do like to support our shops.

I have to agree, I think since RWS in the 90's stopped importing Dianas, they have fallen under the radar, Tony Wall at SFS once told me that his customers preferred HW's because of the lack of plastic that Dianas seemed to like using, as for the Cometa discussion, the 400 USC I had was excellent out of the box, absolutely no spring twang or funny noises as mentioned above, the only reasons for getting rid of it was the awful trigger and because I had lack of funds to buy a rifle I really wanted for my collection, so I traded it in.
Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in

He did a few days back. Pity they don’t have it in .177.

Would be nice all metal but I can live with a bit of plastic. I have the grey laminated 400 USC. Cracking lightweight rifle. I self tuned and modified the trigger. The only unusual noise I had was the new piston seal wearing in. This has gone now and shoots nicely so will be keeping it.

The new metal blade is available but like you I don’t have any issues with the plastic one, the trigger is great when adjusted to suit. I had the grey Lam and their stocks are lovely aren’t they, and again like you and LNH I have no noises from my 400’s and I found the YT thing a bit weird, because if there were issues with the gun making a noise from say a broken guide or spring a set of new guides would/should make it quiet and for all his testers to have the same issue I’d say somethings defo wrong with either all their guns or all the kits, somethings wrong obviously somewhere and a shame for Cometa he didnt use the original piston liner and spring and make a long rear guide like WW or Shauny.

The only time I’ve heard anything like that on the vid was a broken spring in a Webley, luckily all mine and my friends are good out the boxes with no noises

Yes a few weeks ago I just missed out on a Diana Airking 54 Pro, it sold about half an hour before I called the RFD.
I bought a new TX200 in walnut to console myself.

One last time for those who are struggling: this gun was making these noises with the factory parts. The people who contacted me after the YT video had the same noise with the factory parts. The kits I supplied did not fix the noise, nor did anything else we tried. If I had supplied kits to people who’s gun didn’t make the noise to start with, they would have been happy as there was nothing to fix.
I supplied kits to half a dozen known customers who watched the video who had this problem, this is from a total so far of 20+k viewers.

I have withdrawn, stopped or not started production of more kits than I currently sell as I only want to supply kits that work to a certain standard. This requires a rifle to be built to a certain standard

As we have known from the start, a good Cometa is good, a bad one is not. The importer is excellent and replaces the crap ones quickly and efficiently.

On the Whole they are a good rifle and worth buying. They can be made better with a little work

Im going to do then lottery then as Im on a lucky run

But if anyone has one of these noisey 400’s don’t give up, just make sure you have the original liner fitted and try a set of guides from Shauny as I’ve used plenty of his stuff and it’s quality, plus I hear the WW guides are good to, so all is not lost and when it’s right it’s really quite nice.

And again you didn’t read it!

Original sleeved, nor sleeved, guided factory spring, guided aftermarket spring, nothing stopped this noise in these guns! Other tuners mentioned in these threads on both forums have also come across this (maybe rare) issue and not been able to solve it. Some have decided not to make kits, others have chosen to take the money.

You stand much more chance of getting a shit cometa than winning the lottery, but then it takes a certain mindset to buy lottery tickets

Yeah I understand theres always a possibility of a Friday afternoon Cometa’s just the same as every other brand out there and getting a duff one that is noisey or one that eats itself is very slim or very rare as you say, but it surprised me as all tested had that issue, that is lottery winning percentages akin to every 99 galling in a test, yes it’s possible but normally some wouldn't but I know those chances are there with any purchase so it’s all a lottery really I guess

I know ASI are absolutely brilliant and would be happy to sort any issues out as Cometa’s lifetime warranty would kick in, and before any of the testers chuck the towel in and think Cometa’s are all like that it would be well worth them trying a kit from WW or Shauny before giving up as they are a very nice budget offering.

My experience of Cometa's indicated more than the odd Friday afternoon special, but it was a couple of years ago, so maybe they have improved their QC since then.

I had four in quick succession, and everyone was faulty or broke, the full saga is in the review section.

Had two 220's, both terrible had springs like bananas, guides made of the cheapest nastiest plastic and packed full of grease, they were diabolical. It's a shame as all I wanted was a garden gun with fibre optic sights. Refunded without fuss by ASI.

Having not learned, I purchased a .25 gas ram, surely no spring, no problem. Unfortunately its moderator started clunking, but as it was bonded on so I couldn't sort it myself, so that had to go back for repair, this was sorted by big dan.

Then the Fusion Premier Star; this broke after about 40 shots (turned out the plastic spring guide had failed). I've still got the Fusion and love it, it's one of only two springers I've kept. Having returned from warranty repair with a metal spring guide, it wasn't nice to cock and twanged terribly. Was sent it off to WW, unfortunately I can't remember exactly what he did, but it was more than just dropping a kit in, some additional tweaking took place - now the gun is as smooth as anything. I've just got it out, cocked it to be double sure, it is really easy to cock and completely smooth. So they definitely can be sorted, I can only apologise for not being able to remember how.

Incidentally, for any one considering a Cometa their distributor ASI were great to deal with, so with the lifetime warranty offered (original purchaser) they are still worth considering imo, for me there's a certain left-field appeal.

I got a Fusion cheap as it would not cock! Common problem on the earlier rifles as the plastic rear guide used to break up . From memory made a steel guide and fitted a Titan spring which I had to shorten twice but ended up very decent rifle!
