Failed mission!
So, I was going to nip to a pub for a swifty. But, once you've had those eye drops in your pupils are dilated. You have blurry vision and daylight really hurts so I had to wear the sunglasses. And you feel a bit sorta vulnerable. As I got towards the centre (around 12.30) it was really busy. The "atmosphere" felt quite "abrasive" and not nice. Pubs already seemed quite busy and rowdy. And I'm sure we've all sensed and seen this.....but the number of seemingly unemployed, gobby, rough-looking benefit-claiming (I guess) scumbags were in great evidence. The place felt bloody horrible. MPs need to get out of their cosy chambers and visit real-world town centres and witness how bad it is out there and get the scumbags working. Never going to happen.
Got to the train station. Next two trains were delayed. Good old public transport, eh?The wife had already rung to see if I wanted picking up. So she came to fetch me. This gave me ample time for a swift half in the pub at the station......a very nice, civilised affair....just myself and three old boys in there and nice and quiet.
