That AM03 is doing well, what a bargain !

Still undecided on what to bring, except the little Relum, that's coming. Had an indoor plink last night zeroing the red dot. The dot on the red dot is a bit big, making it less accurate at 6m than my Original 6M pistol on opens, I'll have to see what it's like in daylight on the bell target.

One week today & I'll be loading the boot
Oh yes, exciting times with The Bash looming fast.

I absolutely love the AM03. An outstanding buy, methinks.

Think I might go 77/97 spring; we'll see.

The red dot might surprise you, as your brain automatically centres it. The old Singlepoint sights had huge dots, but could be highly effective.

Yep, do give that a try on the P17. You'll know what I mean re the air intake when you look for it.

If the flange is no thicker, rod should go through to the trigger okay, too?
I still think it's too short / weak, but if you have a guide that fits a TX spring, try it

Personaly I think 3.2 mm wire soft wind will be your sweet spot. A man of your experience must have the ubiquitous "big box of random springs" on hand to play with ? Or I can bring mine and we can try some at the bash

Cheers JB and thank you for those insights. No, I don't have a big box of springs; shame.

NickG has offered to make some guides, so I think I might try with a TX III spring and see how we go.

Hi Jon, sorry, I could only do a brief reply earlier, as I was nearing the end of my morning break at work. Trying to do it at The Bash might be sightly awkward with no guides and having to keep removing the trigger unit etc. But thank you for your very fine offer. Much appreciated.

I really have a feeling that the TX spring will work to deliver that softer cycle with steadier piston acceleration and less spring force as I think I have a very efficient set-up. Fingers crossed.

    My plans have changed ,
Will probably 0nly be at the Bash for Saturday.
I have an abscess and will be having some Teath removed next Wednesday,
Been rough all week which has prevented me from working on my camper conversion.

    That’s a real shame Jonny.
    Abscess can be bloody painful.
Looking forward to catching up with you on Saturday 👍.

I loved hitting those little chalk men that you brought along, Pete. Especially when confronted by a square hit by the manky old Supersport using those .22 Hobbys and just exploding into clouds of dust! Awesome!

    How are you feeling?

You'll be missed at this one but we'll all be looking forward to seeing you again next time.

Sympathies from a fellow sufferer, Jonny. The relief once you've had the offending items removed will be immense; promise. Amazing how ill they can make you feel. Not just the pain but I assume the mankiness gets into your whole system and can make you feel most unwell, it seems.

Good luck with the extractions and we'll look forward to seeing you next week.

NickG to the rescue once again, Paul.

Jon had offered to bring some springs along so we could try a few in it at The Bash. Which was mighty good of him. But I'd have struggled for guides on the day and didn't really fancy eating into valuable nattering time on a Bash day. Nick's going to make me some guides to fit the TX spring, so I'm going to go down that avenue.

All won't be lost re that spring.......I have four other 35s. Three modern, hardly used ones and my old, manky war warrior. That old thing currently has a newer, lighter synthetic piston in, larger TP and V-Mach spring and guide set. I also have a leather piston that I bought from CapitalBee. I can fit the old piston in that, which will suit the larger TP and use this spring in it too. I'll then have the V-Mach spring set spare which I'll fit to one of the newer ones once the next round of fettling commences.

I'd have to set up a filing system to make sure I didn't get all that mixed up

Will the TX spring & guides be ready for the bash ?

Looks like the pellets I ordered last Monday from Redback haven't even been posted yet I would have got them from Ramsbottoms but they didn't have what I wanted in stock.

nw mate. I was more thinking of testing the springs for power / shot cycle, irrespective of guide fit. Doesn;t matter for a few shots if the guide is optimal. You can always have one made up to suit later, to cure any buzz/twang...

I just stripped down my new-to-me project 35 this morning; no need to remove trigger block/pins, as the cap was just loose enough to release by hand.

Decided what I'm going to bring, most based upon light weight, as my shoulder is still well below full strength.

    HW35
    Shedstorm
    Shedtype
    FWB 124
HW80 24mm (a bit heavy for me right now, but it only comes out every few years).

and a pistol or two... still deciding there...

Did a quick service on the new-to-me HW35 this morning, swapping the nicely-converted-leather-to-synthetic-piston to a factory synthetic version - taking the weight down from 296g to 260g, and adding a few mm of stroke.

Normally I'd expect some power increase with the extra stroke, but the reason I stripped it was that it was a little smokey.. sure enough, the seal was a fraction loose, and there was quite a bit of oil in front of the piston seal. So a new seal went on the new piston, and the net effect was the combustion stopped, and the power stayed exactly the same at 10 fp. Firing cycle was a little calmer too, so will let it settle at the bash and see how accuracy is. Same spring, so same moderate cocking effort.

Really getting in the mood for the bash now... might even make it for friday evening if the weather is fine

Yes, my old "HW35 Knackerbag's" trigger block is like that. Makes for very quick stripdowns!
