As my gun is late twenties early thirties model I suppose It should be ok as I assume the original boxes were for the pre WW1 guns.
My experience of todays kiln dried redwood tells me that I could waste my time using that as it readily splits, especially the Scandinavian white wood which tends to be sold as pine.
It’s just an idea though
