The HW100 and AA400 names were also there but it made me wonder how many of them are still going strong and being regularly used after nearly 20 years. Or is it a case of old age, a lack of spares, or newer shiny things have relegated most of them to the bin?
I cannot understand why anyone would wish to spend around a grand plus on a state of the art rifle when something from the recent past will perform just as well, in some cases better, and look just as good. I have been using Titans for decades and obviously they were built for longevity, thirty years on and they will do whatever a brand new expensive gun will. Vintage guns also have the benefit of being used to the extent of uncovering any fault or weakness in their makeup which has been corrected to provide a virtually fault free future. How many times do you hear of new PCPs being returned for repair because their design has become more complicated leaving more to go wrong?

I bought off here rws rapier in 22. Love the unusual shuttle system, beautiful walnut stock and metalwork finish. A long rifle and well balanced.

I love the old titans, my first pcp was one & now 30 years later I have a .22 MPT & a .177 19" tube rifle , still as accurate & reliable as ever.

    Safety inspections

Please do get your old faithfuls checked
I condemned a customers career 707 because of internal rust in the lower cylinder, probably used a hand pump.
    Also check for metal fatigue.
Try measuring the middle diameter of an alloy buddy bottle empty and full.Thinkyou will be surprised how much it swells.
If I recall 5 percent was tolerance.Fixed reservoir air rifles do exactly the same.
Whilst anything under 500cc used to be exempt that doesn't make it safe.Im sure Hw100 cylinders are date marked

An appeal to all airgunners: Please do not scrap old rifles just because the cylinder is more than ten years old. There is no regulation that says cylinders more than ten years old must be scrapped. Most manufacturers now print the date of manufacture on cylinders and some give guidelines in instruction manuals but there is no law or regulation in the UK requiring bottles under 500cc to be tested or scrapped after a certain lifespan. Best to be aware of safety and the condition of the cylinder.

I love my Vintage PCPs Theoben’s and Ripley’s. Everyone should have an ISP Spartan.
