I am very interested in coming along. I sent an email about the running of the session a few days ago with a reply from Bri & Leanne. I was going to book a slot but this looks to be a great way to meet people and have a shoot at the same time.

What time will you start in the morning? What does, "arrange what you can if you can." mean please?

You most certainly could use a good plywood. Or a plank of just about any hardwood, I guess. The lovely little one that Pete gave me last year was a laminate one and it's a beaut. I could definitely fancy making a few from plywood and solid ash, beech etc. Sounds like you have the right tools for the job (I don't) to make it easy and quick.

If you ever get the chance, go on the Catapult Carnage YouTube channel. There you will find LOADS of tutorials on how to make catapults from various woods etc. There are also lots of good vids from other people.

The main ones that have helped me in terms of technique, making them, making and tieing bands etc. etc. are the Catapult Carnage, Catty Shack and Gamekeeper John YouTube channels. To tie the band set to the frame, I used the "wrap and tuck" method, illustrated by all these helpful people (and more besides).

Good news re that fulcrum. Do keep them safe. Is it up and running yet? Protek are nice, helpful, genuine peeps.

P.S......Ready made band sets, rolls of band (so many types and thicknesses available), pouches, tieing ribbon and other helpful accessories widely available from Catty Shack and Wasp Slingshots.
Thanks for the tips & pointers Tony, I'll have to look into this properly when I get the chance.

The Tempest is up & running, but still only managing 4 joules, still it's enough to whack cans

    That good eh, Pete?

To be fair, they can't be that bad. There are some lovely ones out there. I've been fortunate enough to try some very, very nice ones at The Bash.

If they are to be likened to British Leyland, they can't be the Allegro or Princess of the range. No, I think they'd be more along the lines of the later Austin Rover Rover 800 Series......a good many good points and design features. The bar set high. But, ultimately, suffering at the hands of the competition.....

No problem re the slingshots, Paul, and feel free to shout up anytime.

The Tempest.....are we going all metric? Great to hear it's up and running. That power level is plenty enough to have the tin cans dancing about in most animated fashion! Great fun!

I'm wondering if it's about time to draw up a list of who is eating at the Beefeater so we can book a table. They might even need to know enough in advance to get extra staff on because I'm guessing it would otherwise be a fairly quiet night at that time of the year ?

There are more people stopping for the meal than are stopping at the Premier Inn but I've lost track of exactly who.

    Hi Andy,

In addition to this Doncaster meet, which will be a most excellent day, you'd also love coming along to our Boinger Bash events. Held in the Spring and Summer months at a very peaceful and tranquil Quigley Bottom near Melton Mowbray. Very relaxed, friendly and enjoyable little get-togethers.
