I didn’t come home with anything this time but that doesn’t bother me, I view the day out much like I would a trip to a museum although admittedly something normally gets the better of me. There’s not so much on my want list these days I guess. I did um and ah over a Webley Victor, it was nice and a very fair price but missing its sights so I decided against it. There was also a nice ASI Sniper at a great price which I would have jumped at but Chris H kindly sent me one recently. As always my gaze lingers on the Webley Mk2 Service’s, I never have plucked up the courage to spent those amounts of money on a single purchase, it’s one rifle that never seems to appear as a project or as a really rough example 🤷♂️
No guns for me either but like you, that does not detract from the overall experience. I often liken walking around Kempton to visiting a museum and being allowed to handle the exhibits (with consent) and possible having the opportunity to buy them.

A Service is definitely worth having. If I had to pick, it would possibly be my choice for my favourite air rifle of any generation.

    Kind regards,

    John

Thanks for the report, John. May your mouse never be idle.

I’ve been once and would recommend it anybody, but 3 hours drive in each direction is a bit too much, especially when I’m supposed to be downsizing. I did try to organise a vehicleful of northerners to share expenses, driving and a stall, with Pete’s collusion, but nobody took me up on it.

    Thanks again, Mick

Tim Dyson had that one but I didn't see the price - sorry.

    Not sure if it sold.

I believe that was a Juvenile with the rearsight mounted back to front and it sold at the fair.

What a great morning, felt like one of the best yet for antique airguns.
Great to see Protek back, Vic had some fantastic gallery guns and antique pneumatics.

Nice to meet some other collectors, some of whom I’ve never met before, and many bringing interesting items to show around.
I brought a couple of antique air rifles to get some opinions on and from chatting to a well known collector of gallery guns I learnt more in a 20 min chat then I could ever have found through weeks of research.
    Brilliant.

Thanks to Peter & Liz for all the effort, much appreciated.
Thanks John for posting the pictures, nice to see you there mate.

I might order an improved Britannia repro tool for when I finally get one.

    Cheers,
    Matt

Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. But not lathes. I have too many lathes. Thanks, JB.

Sounds utterly fantastic. As always. I'll be looking in later on the phone to wind myself up.

for obvious reasons the especially nice stuff tends to get more focus in the pictures, but there's a lot of fairly priced and generally good condition guns available too.. as I intimated in my earlier post, I genuinely consider it a fairly affordable fair, probably due to the mix of private collectors and traders.
