We had a great day and evening, from reminiscing with Chris to being shuffled across 3x tables in the pub.
Big thankyou to Paul and Tony for organising, thanks to Bri for hosting, being a gentleman with banter as always.
Also, big thanks to Bri for fitting the scope to the old fellas rifle, sorting him out with mounts and zeroing it for him even though it wasn't your scope, saving me the job. True Gent.
Probably biggest thanks is to everyone who made myself and the old fella (as bash or meeting virgins) very welcome.
    Excellent "chilled" day.
Look forward for doing all again.
    Steve and Trev.
Lovely to finally get to meet you, sir. Glad you had a lovely time. Thank you for the play on the awesome little Cricket.

Yep, looking forward to the next one already!

Yes, I think for future meets, maybe those two later sessions (making it easier for people travelling longer distances if they're not staying over) and, depending on FIRM numbers, a few less lanes?

Meal and drinks venue was excellent - thank you.

Re your 35 - I'd be tempted to whip the trigger unit out, degrease and check. I wonder if the tab on the cage is hindering safety catch operation? Degreasing / re-lubing should cure that sticking sear. Please also double check that the bottom sear is clear of the woodwork. That might be it! You'll get a clearer idea as soon as you remove the stock.

Shame you haven't got open sights option on this, as barrel droop would be a non-issue. Some adjustable mounts are going to be the order of the day.

Hope you get it set up to perfection; it's a beautiful thing.

Less time & fewer lanes and firm numbers is the way to go, 9 until 5.30 is a very long time esp when it's very cold. Plus if it's Saturday it's not great getting up at silly o'clock to get there either.

I'm determined to get there a few times a year at the very least now I've seen it, getting there & back in the same day isn't too much either, the journey seemed very short with Paul as a passenger too.

I'm glad you had a good meal, the steaks Paul & I had were cooked one stage further on than they should have been, but any hot food was welcome by that point

It is a shame about the open sights because I could have swapped them over from the 80, I need to get a proper look at it really, there might be a mechanical reason for the droop. Sports match used to do a one piece canted mount for barrel droop but they have sold out everywhere it seems. I might be able to go adjustable as long as they let you have one higher than the other without crimping the scope.

At least with a record trigger there are lots of youtubes on rebuilding & tuning them & I've got others to compare it to.

I've mounted the little "Rushnell" that was on the 35 onto the Supersport & it looks like a perfect match, the new Wulf scope I bought off Brian has gone on my .177 Mk1 HW97 where it will see a lot of use & will be my best chance at the Bucket come May

They cost quite a bit but the FX no limit 2 piece mounts are identical so work nicely.

Fit mounts to rifle. Fit scope in mounts while they are down. Undo adjuster screws on both mounts. Lift up rear of scope and lock. Lock front screw. The front mount will follow the rear one which is why it's the last to be tightened up. To adjust undo front and undo rear, make adjustment and then tighten up both mounts.

I use a tapered piece of wood in the mount to raise and hold it in place while I do up the screw.

Hawke do a set of scope shims that are handed and they work well. For the money if they give enough elevation they are a good way to test out the theory.

The scope rings have to be mounted 110mm apart for them to work.

Had a fab time on Saturday, it was great to see everyone, and it really is an incredible venue to hold a winter meet at.

Thanks to Paul and Tony for arranging it and Brian for hosting it. Very much appreciated!

I think the trigger issues will be more to do with the bottom arm hitting wood or the unit being gunked up, Paul. Safety issue could be bent tang on trigger cage. Both easy fixes.

35s used to be notorious for droop. I must have been really fortunate to escape this.

Those scopes should nestle nicely in their respective new homes.

Sorry to hear your steaks were a bit overdone. Bet they were still nice, though. And that Peroni was nice...

Thanks for that Andy, the FX ones do look the better option & I'd be able to experiment with them to get them right where I want them. I'll be pointing my scope down rather than up but it's the same problem, mounting a scope at a cant.

The trigger has got to be sorted, if its something hitting wood there will be witness marks, but then the safety isn't popping out like on any other HW & pressing the trigger while trying to cock it would let it cock. I really don't want anything but 100 % sure with a trigger so this is getting stripped before it gets used again.

I'm going to check that there isn't a mechanical reason for the barrel not going all the way up & if nothing becomes obvious I'll be getting some adjustable mounts like Andy linked to.

The Peroni was very nice, so nice I really have no idea how many I sampled I'm not going anywhere near my bank balance until I've been paid because I don't want to see it, not cheap that Italian fizzy water

Well, that barrel droop conundrum was sorted out far faster & with a lot less hassle than I anticipated

Just need to sort the trigger out now.

Yep, excellent outcome on the mount, Paul. And nice one, Mr Foby.

Too right with the trigger, Paul. You don't want to be taking any chances. Hopefully both issues will present obvious, easy fixes and job done.

Mounts are already in the post

Took the trigger out & it's oiled and got moly on it, however the sears are visibly worn, the safety spring has bugger all spring left in it & after a few good blasts of WD40 I can see the brown residue of ancient grease in the bowels of the unit.

I'm going to do some reading & youtubes & then strip it & check the little springs etc as I don't think the sears are doing what they should. I'm quite looking forward to it, is that normal ?
